We are the proud owners of a 1982 Datsun-Nissan 280ZX 2+2 sports car, with a 5 speed manual transmission, A/C, and power everything. The exterior is brown metallic with gold pin stripes and alloy wheels. The interior is brown and beige. It was purchased from its second owner on July 5th of 1995. The Z car really is fun to drive (Carol prefers to do all the driving, when we're together) and it's quite an attention getter as well. Unfortunately, Nissan no longer makes a Z car. The 1996 300ZX was the last model of the line, which spanned 26 years.
So, in honor of the 26 years of the Z car, we have put together a page of pictures of each model from beginning to end. The pictures were taken from a screen saver that Nissan offered at one time. If you would like to check out the screen saver (and you have an IBM PC compatible computer), then send us some e-mail and we'll get it out to you.
News Update: Well, it looks like the tradition WILL continue. Nissan has announced that they will be offering a new Z car, in the near future, with styling more like that of the earlier models. You can see a picture of the new Z, on our Z cars page!
On June 17, 2000, we received email from another avid fan of Z cars and we would like to share her comments and a great picture that she enclosed with her message.
Hi Guys,
....you are THE FIRST people i have ever run across that have had "Z BUG' like me! Since you don't have a 1986Z in your offerings, I will send you a pic of my HOT RED Z taken after I bought it brand new. My plates were vanity: "ARTZ"...I am a nationally recognized artist and it seemed appropriate! Unfortunately, I do not have pics for every year I had a new Z. My first was a used copper 1978...second was a used copper turbo, third a new cherry colored 1980, fourth was a new burgundy 1984, fifth was a new-off the showroom floor RED 1986 and my last was my FAVORITE of all....made to order, a new 1989 White LOADED that had only 1800 miles on it when it was hit and I then went into Cadillac's. Long story. But. I luved them all.
Teri
