Family tree Ethelwyn Potts, a Boarder in Miss Edeson's days, recalled many
years later: "At holiday time we were accustomed to have to bundle into
a horse cab to be taken to the railway station. Most of us had our first
ride in a motor car when at a fete at the College, Dr Gault took us for
rides around the block at threepence per head - a small price to pay for
such a thrill!"

Miss Ethelwyn Potts writing thirty years later of her days in the
boarding house vividly recalled the Great Snail Hunt of 1905. Prospects
of an uneventful week-end and, for the boarders, the inherent threat of
boredom prompted Miss Edeson to solve not only that problem but also one
posed by a voracious invasion of snails in the garden with the result
that the boarders spent the week-end in great humour collecting the
molluscs - 13,000 by Miss Potts assessment. MLC anecdotes from TO GROW
IN WISDOM by P.M.Twyman |
