Death Of Dr. G. R. West

    Dr. Gordon Roy West of Jarvis street, Erindale, who died on Tuesday at the age of 73, was buried privately yesterday.
    Dr. West practised at Prospect  for more than 30 years before his retirement eight years ago.
    Born at Woodville in 1885 he was educated at Prince Alfred College and the University of Adelaide.
    He first practised at Kaniva, Victoria and in 1915 was appointed medical superintendent of the Royal Adelaide hospital.
    He was for many years Medical Officer of Health for the City of Prospect and for the district council of Enfield.
    On the establishment of the Royal Australian College of Physicians, he was one of the first from SA to be admitted as a member.
    Dr. West was the second son of the late Mr. W. A. West, who was the chief inspector of schools of the Education Department.
    Dr. West is survived by his widow, two sons, Dr. L. R. West of Cardiff, Wales, and Dr. R.F. West of Adelaide, and a daughter, Mrs K.M. Stokes, of Eden Hills.
    Mr.R.A. West, Principal of the Adelaide High School from 1920 to 1948, is a brother.
