A township was surveyed in August, 1920, and the streets were appropriately named after the soldiers who were killed in action, and who had enlisted from Renmark. The names are to be found on the Renmark Honour Roll today, honouring:

Lieutenant Edward Laurence ANGOVE
Lance Corporal James Allan CORNEY
Sergeant Edgar F De LAUTOUR
E FENWICK
Lance Corporal A H JACKSON
Private Walter Stanley MADDISON
C L RANDELL

Township of Monash was proclaimed by Governor Weigall on 25 August 1921 and takes its name from General Sir John Monash who commanded the 4th Division AIF in World War I.
