On April-16-2005, Washington DC Metro Area Assamese community celebrated Rangali Bihu at "The Club House, 7700 Provincial Dr, Mclean, VA 22102. More than 120 diasporas attended the celebration.
Dr. Jayanta Madhav: the economic advisor to the chief minister of Assam, Dr. Sanjay Hazarika: world renown reporter, and officials from Washington DC Indian embassy also attended the celebration
This the first time Washington DC Metro Area diaspora community celebrating Bihu more collaborative way involving more diasporas. For last 25 years Dr. Jiten and Aruna Borpujari organized Bihu in their house as the community were very small.
During this year Bihu, Community appreciated Dr. Jiten and Aruna Borpujari for their extraordinary community involvement and contribution. Dr. Borpujari mentioned that he started celebration of Bihu long time ago with seven families. He says he is very happy to see the community is growing significantly in last few years.
Also, Community appreciated Dr. Sanjay Hazarika for attending Bihu even his schedule was very tight.
Bihu celebration started with Kid games, followed by Kids cultural program followed by Assamese authentic early dinner and ended with Bihu husori. The super high class cultural program made the 2005 Bihu Celebration momentous. |
