TSCA HOMEPAGE

The Read File

By John Glessner

22 Dec 05 The new email address for the TSCA is techcontrollers@yahoo.com. There are still jobs out there. If you want your resume to be posted, send it as a notepad attachment. Dont make it too fancy. It will be easier to convert to HTML for posting. Make sure you put you availability date on the resume. Have a safe and happy holiday season.

15 June 04 I have change ISPs due to too many spam emails (50 a day) and my Norton antivirus software was going nuts. The new address is TSCA.ASSN@COMCAST.NET. Tried to get just TSCA, but it was taken already.

As you probably already know, we recently lost one of our biggest supporters, Terry Witt. I knew Terry since the early 1980s and want that say that he was one of the best Water Walkers there ever was, if not the best. He took the job as the Head Water Walker at the European Comm Division when the Telecommunications industry was in total turmoil from the Bell breakup, and the beginning of the micro-computer, LAN boom. After retiring, he helped many a Water Walker find a new beginning in the civilian world. Terry will be greatly missed.

8 August 02 I have changed the email address for the TSCA to TSCA@DIRECWAY.COM. It is a faster connection, and will allow me to make changes to the web page quicker. I have also made a few minor changes to the web page fonts to make the page easier to read. If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to contact me. The web page counter is nearing 1,000,000,000 hits. Even though the counter changes everytime we go back to the main page, it is still a remarkable number. It means the page is being used regularly.

I am cleaning up the resume section. I will be archiving a lot of the old resumes. We need fresh ones. For thise folks in the military that have decided to get out, it is never too early to post a resume, as long as you put an "Available on" date at the bottom. Some employees have contracts that they have to fill and may contact you to see if you are interested. They may ask if you have experience or training in an area that you don't. The lead time will allow you time to get the experience and training.

17 January 02 It's the start of a new year. Hopefully a great year for all. If you are visiting your site for the first time and like it, please pass the URL on to as many people as you can. Please don't assume everyone knows where the site is. The more people we have posting resumes, jobs and names, the better your site will be. Still looking for pictures to post. Send them to TSCA@EROLS.COM. We have a lot of room for the pictures and people love them.

I want to apologize for all of the pop up adds. That's what we get for using a free site.

9 November 01 Well over the past 6 months, the job market has slowed, but we still have jobs available for the Water Walkers. This is what networking is all about and one of the goals of this web page. I want to take a moment to thank those employers who have made it a point to bring Water Walkers on board. In return, we need to make sure we have all of the available Water Walkers' resumes posted, so the Employers can fill their needs. Please pass the TSCA url on to as many folks as you can. Don't assume that they know it exists. I speak to Tech Controllers every day and many do not know about "your" web page. We do not know the email addresses for all Water Walkers, so we rely on you to spread the word. It is nice to see people signing the guest book from overseas locations. This web page may be their only link to employers in the states. Please get the word out! Why not attach the TSCA URL to all of your holiday emails. Who knows, it might become a valuable gift to them someday.

Hope you all have a happy holiday season. Drop us a Holiday Hello.

29 August 01 I just received the following email. It is the most historic document we have received to date. It is a picture of the very first Tech Control Class to graduate from Keesler. Here is the email.

Happened to run across your site and brought back some memories. I was a member of the first Tech Controllers course at Keesler, graduating in Dec 1960. Up until that time, all Tech Controllers were made OJT. After graduating, served 2 years in Bermuda, from 61 to 63 and then McClellan AFB until seperation in 1964. Thought you might like to have this pic for your records. Instructors were T/Sgt Smoot, M/Sgt Kilgore. Cannot remember the civilians name or the SSGT in the first row. At that time, all of us were on our second hitch or more. Later as I understand it, Tech controllers went to tech school straight from basic. Glad to see still being called Tech Controllers. Name was changed to Telecommunications Systems Control Analyst while I was in.

Here's the picture that was sent in. Thanks a million!!!!!

First Tech Control Graduation class of Dec 1960.

14 February 01 I found a great guestbook that we will be linking to in the near future. Plenty of space for your entries (We won't get cut off anymore!) I will archive the present entries and then change the link to the new guestbook. I'm sure you'll like the change. The new guestbook it on homestead.com. Really sorry for anyone's entries getting cut off in the past. I tried to get geocities to go back to the old guestbook format.

6 February 01 Jim Smith sent in a picture of theHumosa Spain Tropo Antennas, and Humosa as seen from Torrejon Air Base Spain. Thanks Jim for bringing back good memories. Good old Pozo's beans!!!

2 February 01 We had to delete old resumes. Hope this makes your employee search easier. If your resume has disappeared and you want it re-posted, let us know. We have kept them on file.

1 February 01 Here's an email I received from Steve King, along with pictures he provided for your enjoyment. Thanks Steve!!! Keep those pictures coming.

Here are six pictures to post on the Read File.

MRETCF1981-82 and MRETCF1981-82 are from Monte Virgine Tech Control circa. 1981 or 82 I don't remember which. But I do know it was before MTCIP.

Mobile TCF1 and Mobile TCF2 are Pictures of a Mini-Mobile Tech Control I helped build for the 606th ACS in '94.

TRC170V3 and TSC100A are for those Wideband/Satcom guys who wished they had become Water Walkers.

16 January 01 Vince Williams sent in some pictures of his Tech School days. Thanks Vince!! Remember those Tech School days well. Most of them anyway.

26 December 00 Just noticed that the new guest book being used by geocities will cut off your comments if they are too long. I'll try to work on a fix. Sorry. Have a Happy and safe New Year!

22 December 00 Hope you all have a happy holiday season. Thanks to those of you who are serving in the military for allowing us to celebrate this holiday season in peace.

22 December 00 Finally figured out a way to get us a guestbook sign-in spot again. Without geocities help, we had to start a new web page and link to it. Sorry for any trouble this has caused. We'll keep working on a final fix.

9 December 00 The guestbook sign-in section is still broke. Sorry. I'll follow-up with the Geocities help desk in a couple more days.

6 December 00 The guestbook sign-in portion of our webpage has stopped working. I asked geocities for assistance. Sorry.

12 November 00 Just received a picture of Humosa Spain from Don Evans. Thanks Don!! Keep those pictures coming.

11 November 00 We have posted all of the resumes we have on hand. If we missed yours, get to us in either MS Word or HTML, so we can add it.

11 November 00 David Difabio notified us that they have the site ready for the new TSCA.ORG. We will try to upload web pages to it soon. Hope to make it easier to find the TSCA when you move. We'll keep you posted.

10 November 00 Jason Ewing is expanding some of the resources Tech Controllers have to keep in touch and find jobs. He started the Water Walkers club. His web page has a chat line to use, once you become a member. It might be nice for a Christmas chat line. We use to try to link orderwires. Here is Jason's info. Thanks Jason!!!

30 September 00 I have uploaded some resumes. Keep them coming. please use MS Word or convert it to HTML for us. It is easier to post, without too many changes.

Here is another search area to try to find friends. http://www.gisearch.com

23 September 00 Sorry if you encountered delays when trying to view the guest book recently. The file was too big, and I had to archive the 5/00 to 7/00 files.

28 August 00 Just received a picture of the old AFCS Patch from Tom Comerford. Thanks Tom!!

10 June 00 An old friend, Divid Difabio just informed me that he has locked in www.techcontrol.org for all of you. This will make your future searches easier. Dave had to go to Salt Lake city. When he gets back, we'll see what can be done to move the files, so you can find them easily. This is the kind of participation that will make this Association fantastic. Members who send pictures, job openings and who participate like Dave did, are the ones who keep this site going. Remember, this is your site.

9 June 00 I just received the following great email from George Arnold. It will bring back some good/bad memories for some of you out there. Hope you enjoy it. "Hey, John. Got an old picture of Mt Virgine here that I took way back in 1975. Starting from the left, the barracks rats will be happy to see their former living quarters. Moving to the center, is the chow hall (great food always), site lounge, movie theater, and mini-BX. Of course, the comm building is the main attraction. The "billboards" on the left are pointing towards Martina Franca (San Vito and Levkas, to Mt. Pateras, Greece), the ones on the right are looking at Mt. Limbara, the world's worst tropo shot!! The small ones are looking at Reggio which in turn relayed on to Sigonella. Look closely and just to the right of the small tropo antennas is the microwave dish going to Naples. Mt. Vergine was my favorite tour of all my assignments, as you can see from the photo, it was very beautiful up there. This was communications at its finest, and sometimes its worst! What a great career field we were in back then. It'll never be that way again. See ya." Thanks George!!!!

2 May 00 Job openings have been posted. We went back 6 months in the guest book and copied any openings that were listed.
Please let us know if you contact one of the companies listed, and the positions are filled. We will remove them from our list.

30 Apr 00 Just saw a advertisement for a military web site called Military.com. It said it had access to a military locator. Very powerful site. Check it out. But before you do, bookmark this location so you can get back easily.Took me a while to get back, once I got deep into that site.

30 Apr 00 Here are some pictures Christine West sent in from her tour at Andrews. Thanks Christine!!!

30 Apr 00 Here is a picture from Chris Nicholsen of the Croughton DEB Tower. Thanks Chris!!!

30 Apr 00 Look as though we have caused an error in our guest book. Continue to sign in. I'll copy and past them to the right location later. We'll correct it asap. It was caused by the attempt to make the resume entry site.Moved a lot of files around. Still working on both. Looks as though the resume entry site will work. We just have to build the form we want to use. Will keep you posted. Sorry about the surprise Herk.

29 Apr 00 If you would like to be contacted, please make sure to enter your first and last name in the guest book and where you have been stationed. That way your friends and former coworkers will be able to identify you when doing their searches.

28 Apr 00 In an effort to automate this web site, we are looking for a form to allow you to post your resumes. Hope to have it running soon. Will keep you posted. Remember, keep your resume simple. You can send a fancy one out to the employers when they contact you.

28 Apr 00 We are trying to find ways to automate this web site. One change will be to do away with updating the members email list and start using the guestbook to list your email address. If you change addresses, log in and make an entry that your email address has changed. That way people will be able to use the find process below and get your new email addess. Send an email saying what your old address was and we will go in and delete your old email address in the guest book and archives for you.

25 Apr 00 Trying to find someone on our guestbook or on one of the guestbook archive pages? Here's how to do it quickly.
If you are using Explorer, click on edit, click on find in page, put the person's last name in the blank, click on match whole word only, and then click on the find next button. The name should be highlighted if it exists on that page. Click on the find next button again to check for additional people with that last name.
If you are using netscape, click on edit, click on find in page, enter the person's last name, click on the find next button.

17 Apr 00 Sorry about not keeping this web site up to date. It looks as though it has been doing great on its own. We will be making a new name and email list, so keep us updated with your email address changes.

We will also be uploading resumes we have received, so get yours in. Make sure you have an availability date on it. Also, you can build your resume on your own web page, and tell us the url where it is located, and we'll just link to it. That way you can make sure it is kept current.

2 Apr 99 Please pass the word about the TSCA webpage. Copy and paste the URL into an email and send it out to those you feel can use it or are not aware of its existance. They may need the job resources, and may also know of jobs that are available. Most of all, they may find old friends that they lost touch with. Remember, it's your web site. It will only be as good as you make it. You are all doing a great job with it right now. It has become one of the best sites to help any one field. Keep it up and the "Water Walkers" will continue to rule.

1 Mar 99 Received some information about the new "Cold War Recognition Certificate" from Harley Littlejohn. Thanks Harley!

Here is the url for the national archives and records. They've posted the information on their site pointing to the cold war recognition page. Cold War Recognition Certificate

20 Feb 99 For you Air Force 3C folks, I have been asked to pass on this merger news.

31 Jan 99 Several new resumes have been posted. TIP for making your resume. Copy and paste one of the resumes from this webpage into MS word, and then change it to match your qualifications. Send it to us and we will post it.

Some resumes had to be sent back to their author due to being too fancy to convert to HTML neatly. Trust me, you do not need to have a fancy resume on this page. Just say what your qualifications are.You can mail/fax the fancy one to the employer after they contact you. Remember KISS.

30 Dec 98 Please do not post negative comments in our sign-in log. This web page is for professional use by employers and for people looking for employment. We want this page to look professional. Help keep it that way. Do not use profanity or degrading language. If you have a bone to pick, send us an email so we can deal with it professionally. The sign-in log is one of the favorite spots for people to read. Please help to keep it that way. We apologize for two recent entries. They are being dealt with.

6 Nov 98 This is the first Read File entry. No, you don't have to initial it. Let's begin by thanking those whose hard work and foresight made the TSCA happen. The TSCA began over 12 years ago. It was based in the Washington D.C. area and grew enough to have chapters form in Europe, Virginia, and Maryland. As the job market grew stronger, and our members became busier with their jobs, we lost the volunteers needed to keep up with the day to day operation of the Association. Fortunately, we live in the internet era, and can meet our goals of keeping in touch and keeping each other employed. Thanks to all who started the Association. You did a great job. Thanks to Bill Cowen for making our Logo. And thanks to those who took time out from their busy lives to make the TSCA meetings. You truely walk on Water!!

We are going to move on into the internet era. We have about 10 megs of disk space left for "your" web page. Send in emails to the TSCA with ideas on what we can do to make the page better. If we want our old URL, "TSCA.COM" it will cost us a little money. The TSCA@EROLS.COM is paid for by me, John Glessner. I'll keep the email box as long as you need it. I'm an old Tech Controller. Yes, I can still walk on water, as needed. I also have the geocities account for you to use.If you have pictures of places you've been,or groups of people you have served with, let's post them on your page. If we run out of space, then we'll ask for more!!! I have a scanner now and will post some of the original TSCA documents, including the first Newsletter.

Send in articles for either the read file or for a new Newsletter. The read file will be a great place to post information that will be important to others, such as meetings or important changes taking place that others might want to know about. The newsletter is a great place for photos of picnics, group photos, or articles about Tech Control changes. Old timers love to hear about changes to Tech Control Facilities that they once worked in. Just send an email with "post in the read file" on it and it's done. The newest article will be on top and dated.
