Senior Network Engineer II, September 2000 – Present

Presently providing 3rd and 4th level ATM support to the Government on the Defense Information Systems Agency. One of two Senior Engineer assigned to oversee the Second Level ATM group in the provisioning and activation of ATM circuits. Ensuring the following criteria are met:

  1. 100% Implementation and documentation of orders by due date.
  2. Provisioning and testing of 100% of OC-C’s within 3 days of receipt from AT&T.
  3. Assist in training of Fault Management in the correct response to HP Openview alarms.
  4. Schedule Maintenance related issues and track by opening a Remedy trouble ticket.
  5. Become familiar with the Fault Management procedures and assist as necessary.
  6. Become familiar with the Cisco Router network and TITAN 5500 and the correct response to alarms.
  7. Assist in the Network Performance Reports.
  8. Assist in the DTL implementation.
  9. Develop and implement scripts to automate the backup of the switches.
  10. Become familiar with the Network Performance plan
  11. Respond to all ATM Network issues referred by 1st and 2nd level ATM engineers within 30 minutes.
  12. Ensure ATM Engineers are trained and current in proper response to network issues.
  13. Train Fault Management Engineers in the correct response to alarms from the ATM Platform
  14. Ensure the ATM SOP/Manuals are updated and current.
  15. Maintain and post ATM Engineers work schedule.
  16. Maintain and post the ATM Engineers on call schedule.
  17. Respond to issues referred by the government to ensure prompt resolution.
  18. Continue with phase II of network performance reports
  19. Develop ATM preventive maintenance procedures.

Other collateral duties involve but are not limited to the project management of the DISN Pacific monitoring contract. This includes the purchasing of devices, the ordering of circuits the hiring of personnel as well as installation and maintenance of the network devices. Included in these duties are the application and justification of a training budget for the following devices Velociraptor Firewalls (Symantec), Cisco routers, Unix Servers/Workstations, Intrusion Detection/Enterprise Security Management, HP Openview, Ciscoworks2000 to name a few of the systems.

Information Systems and Communications Inc.,

Senior Network Engineer, February 1998 – March 2000

Provided systems support in the re-engineering of the Maryland State CHART network. Duties included but where not limited to the engineering of an ATM (GDC) backbone on which the State will migrated its CHART and FMS support servers. Within this task we are re-engineering the State’s CHART Network utilizing video multicasting over ATM. As one of the leads on the project my duties involved system design, network analysis from the desktop workstations running custom software building virtual circuits across ATM switches to the routers (Cisco) through T-1 Multiplexers (Coastcom). Responsibilities include company wide training and the recruiting of IT personnel. Responsible for reporting monthly to company owners in regard to new technologies and contract issues. Was directly responsible for corporate LAN/WAN, email and other production technologies.

Professional Firefighter, December 1989 – June 1998

Provided fire safety training to the public as well as fire suppression and emergency medical services. Collateral duties involve providing microcomputer technical support. Maintained a range of PC hardware and software. Provided staff with technical computer support and problem solutions. Interacted with Fire/Rescue administration and personnel in support of all computer and network related-problems.

Future Technologies, Inc.,

Senior Systems Engineer, October 1995 – November 1997

Provided support and input on the day-to-day operations of the Network operations center that supported approximately 2200 users. Setting standards and requirements implemented a new system to increase productivity and improve customer service. Directly responsible for the research and development of new software and hardware which the center would utilize on a day to day basis.

Technical Supervisor

Provided technical support for the division’s helpdesk support center. As the head of the training staff, responsible for the certification of each technician (CNE, MSCE and CISCO) while keeping within budgetary limits.

Helpdesk Supervisor

Provide supervision of the Helpdesk staff and coordination of technical staff schedules for the Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research computer branch. Providing training and guidance for the Helpdesk staff in all Helpdesk operation functions. Acted as a liaison with all Government division customers, contractors, vendors and technical support staff to ensure compliance with Government Standard Operation Procedures.

Assisted in the migration of the helpdesk tracking software package from Bendix HEAT to Applix Enterprise.

Computer Teks

Computer Consultant, January 1996 –March 1997

Headed up a project to optimize the FDA’s FaxBack system. Also provided support in implementing the COHO system across the FDA’s WAN. This installation became the standard by which the other centers within the FDA modeled their systems.
