Leave a message at the Qbasic Central Forum News July 2001 Spectre 3d released Spectre 3d is a 3d space flight simulator, for lack of a more appropriate description. It features some cutting edge graphics at a resolution of 800*600, all in qbasic. As you can see with the graphics below, it happens to be quite a graphics feast. But please note that the picture shown doesn't do justice to the game. Click on the picture to see a 800*600 pixel image of the game. It even features a curved spiral within the 3d environment. You can download spectre hereNews June 2001 Just a small update, i have some links to add and stuff, but they will be added later. New Program -Bitmap2Text I have created a new program using qbasic which draws a 256 colour bitmap using only ASCII characters, which obviously means that the picture drawn has a black and white output. There's nothing really special about the program, its just a cool idea. Anyway, it has 8 quality levels where 1 = the highest quality and 8 = the lowest quality. The first picture shown below uses the highest quality and looks exactly like the original picture. The second picture has been manufactured using a lower quality method. SonicX-news Work is still progressing on SonicX, and a major breakthrough has been developed. I have created an animation editor for sonicX which is much like the current graphics editor except that it can edit and create animations which are produced in the same format as the rings and item boxes in sonicX. I have pushed back the release date for the new version of sonicX to august as a result of this development as i saw no point in releasing a version that had an GFX format which wont be explicitly supported in the future. If anyone wants a copy of the new animation editor, just email me at prodigy_2000@start.com.au
News March 2001 Well it has certainly been a long time between updates, but this site is going as well as it has ever gone. Some new programs are going to be uploaded soon, including a 3dspace demo that uses goroud triangles care of the future library, and a new more polished version of sonicX. The new version of sonicX has some significant bug fixes and speed increases. It can also now allow over 4500 objects on screen at once (although the most GFX intensive level barely uses 450 pictures on screen at once). The most impressive feature is that the bug with paint in the background has now been fixed. This means that extravagant backgrounds are now a reality in sonicX. It will be released by August. SonicX wins gaming gold at V-planet SonicX has been voted as the best platformer in the 2001 gaming gold awards. The creators here at Qbasic Central wish to thank everyone who supported SonicX. SonicX Vs Fox ? The team who made sonicX are currently collaborating with the headhunting savages who are making the excellent platformer Fox. Each team will make a couple of levels for the other teams project. Watch this space to keep informed with developments. News December 2000 -New version of SonicX-treme released- |
After 6 months of development, SonicX-treme Version 7 has been released. It has many new features, but the most impressive has to be the "loop the loop" collision detection function. It came off pretty well. I also added an updraft effect function and a horizontal wall feature. Now I'm sure many of you would be happy with those, but SonicX now has a new absolutely god damn awesome feature. It has a qbasic interpreter built into it. So while your playing SonicX, you can have a program execute in the background that enhances the game. For example, one of the programs that i have included with the sonicxv7 zip file, mousecon.txt, allows you to control the sonic sprite using the mouse, a feature that is not included in the SonicX game itself. Anyway, its a must download. Download sonic X Version 7 here -Links page updated- I have added some new qbasic sites to the links page. Qbasic central 2000 & 1999 archive
