This lesson will
be short and sweet.
We decided that now
that you are up and going with most HTML commands and usage, that it is time for you to see how others code their pages.
Have you looked at a
web page while surfing the internet, and wondered, "how do they do that"? If the web page is not done in frames, it is easy to see how
the page was coded. But, please DO NOT cheat and copy someone else's coding, they worked as hard as you have to develop
their pages. It's okay to look, and get an idea, but it is not okay to copy.
To view the "Source" in
Microsoft Internet Explorer, just go the View on the top menu bar, click it, then scroll down to Source. You will then see the coding of
the page you are looking at.
To view the "Source" in
Netscape, just go to the View on the top menu bar, click it, then scroll down to Page Source. Netscape will then display the
coding of the page you are looking at.
In viewing the "Source"
you will not only see the coding, you will see how the page was set up, and sometimes the author of the web page. This can be highly informative
for you.
So, the next time you are cruising
the internet, and see a web page you really like, or are curious about, view the source code! You could learn a lot.
Note:If the page you are viewing was done in Frames, the source you will
be viewing is the frame layout (a future lesson). These can be viewed in Netscape by first, Right-Clicking the Page in the frame you wish to view, the choosing View Frame Source...
Now, go ahead, view some source codes
and see if it helps with a problem you may be facing in your page construction.
