The department of Production Engineering offers B.E & M.E Degree Courses both (Regular and Part-time) & Ph.d Degree Programmes.

Industry-Institution interaction is encouraged by the department & supplemented by industrial visits. It works with a number of industries in and around Tiruchirappalli offering expertise and consultancy. Every year, a number of industrial projects are taken up by the department.

One such R&D Project was "SARVATRA" - which is a defence Bridging System for the Indian Army which was done under the Concurrent Engineering Concept with the Department of Production Engineering-REC Trichy as the Consultant, BHEL-Trichy & Kay Engineering Works-Trichy as the Manufacturer, R&D Establishment-Pune as the Designer and The Indian Army as the Coustomer. This was one of the very few projects which was carried out under the Concurrent Engineering Concept.

The department is conducting a serious of CNC Training courses for Industrial Employees and students of other nearby Engineering college. Apart from this the department offers training courses on AutoCAD.

With a strong foundation on academics & exposure to real world technological developments, the students are placed in a sound position to face the challenges of Tomorrow's World.

The department has an excellent faculty and well equipped laboratories with infrastructural facilities for advanced study and research.

The department has a well maintained workshop which includes Carpentary, Smithy, Welding, Foundry, Fitting & Lathes section. All the first year students are given training in each section. And from the second year onwards the Production Engineering students are allowed to do Projects using these lab facilities.

The Department has a range of CNC machines like,

  1. Hartford CNC Vertical Machining Center.
  2. STC-15 CNC Turning Center.
  3. Denford Triac 3 Axes CNC Milling Machine.
  4. Deckel CNC Vertical Milling Machine.
  5. EMCO Compact 5 CNC Trainer Lathes.

The Department has a well maintained CAD/CAM Laboratory, with WorkStations & PCs.

The department has the following CAD/CAM related software,

  1. Pro/Engineer.
  2. Unigraphics.
  3. AutoCAD.
  4. 3D Studio.
  5. Animator Pro and other related software.
