Thotakaashtakam

We are indebted to Shri Thotakaacharyaa for showing us the easy way to attain the blessings of Shri Shankaraachaarya in these eight Slokaas (sanskrit word meaning stanzas). We are in a time when we don't have the intellect and the time to analyze philosophy or practise yoga to taste Advaitha (the state of oneness with God). But If we pray at Shri Shankaraa's feet, He will shower his grace on us and guide us in every step till the ultimate goal of Advaitha is reached.

The last verse means "I don't know any art or science well enough to please you. Neither do I have even a penny to give you. Compassion is your inborn quality. Please show that towards me. I salute and take sanctuary in thee, Shri Shankara my teacher." 1
