The Holy Bible
The Bible is not actually one book, but a whole library of books designed by its divine Author to provide for man
every essential particle of information for successful, happy living. The sixty-six books which comprise the biblical revelation were written over a period of approximately 1500 years by at least fifty different human authors,in times of stress
and in days of peace,by kings,fishermen,physicians,military leaders,statesmen,farmers and a host of others.
It is this fact which staggers the human imagination.The inspiration of the Bible is only one of the miracles performed by the Holy Spirit(the third person of the Trinity).It has stood the test of time and has survived.

Uniqueness of the Bible
The Bible is unique,different from all others, in the following ways:
  1. Written over a 1500 year span.
  2. Written over 40 generations.
  3. Written by 40 different authors.
  4. Written in different places.
  5. Written in three continents: asia,Africa and Europe.
  6. Written in three languages: Hebrew(Old Testament),Aramaic and Greek(New Testament).
  7. The Bible has been read by more people and published in more languages than any other book.
  8. The Bible has been translated and retranslated and paraphrased more than any other book.
  9. It has survived the test of time,persecution and criticism .
  10. It is the only book ever produced, in which is to be found a large body of prophesies relating to individual nations,to Israel,to all peoples of the earth ,to certain cities and to the coming of the One who was to be the Messiah.
  11. No other book has influenced the lives of people over time, like the Bible.

 The Reliability of the Bible
To prove the reliability of the Bible is beyond the scope of this page. But the historical reliability of the Bible, when tested by the same criteria as all other historical documents, proves itself. There are more than 24,000 copies of manuscript copies of portions of the New Testament in existence today. No other document of antiquity even begins to approach such numbers and attestation.
Archaeological discoveries over the last few centuries have also produced an abundance of evidence to substantiate the veracity of the Bible.Many historians in the past,who went out to prove that the Bible is not accurate, after years of research, concluded that the Bible is historically trustworthy. God
The Bible reveals God as the only Infinite and Eternal Being, having no beginning and no ending.
He is the creator and sustainer of all things.He is the Supreme Personal Intelligence,and Righteous Ruler of His Universe.
He is life, and therefore the only source of life.
Man is natural and cannot know God by wisdom.(Job 11:7)God is a person and can be known only by revelation.He has revealed Himself in these days through His Son Jesus Christ.
The Bible nowhere attempts to argue the existence of God.It is a fact taken for granted.(Gen 1:1....In the beginning God...)
But since everything that began owes its existence to a cause,the creation could not have come into existence without an Intilligent,personal creator, any more than this page producing itself without an author.
Man's moral and intellectual nature argues for a moral and intellectual creator.
The Bible reveals God as a personality. He is called "The true and Living God".Though God cannot be defined certain descriptions throw light on the nature of God.They are:

  1. "God is love": this is the nature of God in His divine compassion.
  2. "God is light.": This is the nature of God in His divine Character.
  3. "God is a consuming fire.": This is the nature of God in His divine Holiness.
  4. "God is a Spirit.": This is the nature of God in His divine essence.
The God of the Bible is a triune God. By The Trinity of God we mean His tri-personal existenceas Father, Son and Holy Spirit--three distinct persons in one God.(Gen 1:26 And God said "let US make man...")

Jesus Christ - Son of God
Christianity differs from all religions, because it is not a religion - it is the life of the Son of God made living in man.
Christ is Christianity and Christianity is Christ. He is the supreme subject of the Bible and fulfills all the promises of God from His incarnation to His second coming as "Lord of Lords and King of Kings." when He was on earth, he claimed to be God incarnate. He is either all that He claimed to be or He is less than the least.
  1. He was born of a virgin: This is without parallel in human history. This had been prophecied centuries before his birth. It was also acording to the promise given by God even in the garden of Eden.
  2. He developed as a normal human being and was subject to all the sinless infirmities of the human nature.(He thirsted, wept, hungered and was tempted in all things, yet without sin.)
  3. He was 100% man but also 100% God.He recieved the worship of men.(only God could recieve worship)
  4. He had power over the elements of nature.(He calmed the raging sea and walked on water,He healed the sick and raised the dead)
  5. He forgave mankind their sins.(only God can forgive sins)
  6. He was crucified for sins not committed.(But for your sins and mine)As the spotless lamb of God he was sacrificed on our behalf.- This was also a fufillment of what was prophesied centuries before His birth. His death though natural was also supernatural.(HE laid down His life...)
  7. He rose again on the third day, even as He said He would.(He appeared to many and was seen of many)
  8. HE is today interceding on our behalf in the presence of God.
  9. He will come again to judge the world.
The Son of Man came to minister and to give His life a ransom fo many: Mat20:28
He is the one true God.

 Sin and it's cost
The most priceless thing in the whole world is the Human soul.If the human soul is the most priceless thing in the world, what is the most expensive thing in the world? SIN. But man makes so little of sin.To many it is only an illusion and to others, the invention of some fanatic. Many who believe sin to be a fact, continue in it with little thought of its penalty.
But God makes so much of sin. God says, "The soul that sinneth, it shall surely die."and "The wages of sin is death."

 Repentance and New Birth

The Bible teaches that God desires truth in the inward parts. It also teaches that every man is a sinner and he must repent of his sins before he becomes the recipient of salvation. Repentance is the gift of God(...the goodness of God leadeth you to repentance. Romans 2:4).This gift of repentance is an inward change produced by the convicting power of the Holy Spirit.(the third person of the Trinity).Repentance qualifies a person for salvation.Repentance is not penance(act on the part of man to render payment for his sin), sorrow(a feeling of remorse) or reformation(a giving up something bad).Repentance is a change of heart, mind and will.The bible says that God wants every man to repent(Romans 17:30),and He does not want any man to perish. Repentance from sin has to be followed by belief in the Lord Jesus Christ.
You must be born again
You cannot become a child of God by going to church or by doing good.Just as a monkey cannot become a man by putting on a man's clothes.The only way the monkey can become a man is by being again a man. So also man must be Born again into the family of God.
New birth means a new creation.New birth means to be regenerated.New birth is receiving Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord by faith and this is compulsory to become a child of God. Every sinner must believe that:
  1. Christ died for his sins according to the scriptures.
  2. He was buried.(He was for three days in the grave)
  3. He rose again from the dead on the third day according to the scriptures.
This is the gospel that saves--but it is powerless to save until one believes.

Salvation
The wrath of God is against sin and ungodliness.When the perfect sacrifice of the Son of God was offered, God's anger was appeased.(wiped away) Jesus Christ became the propitiation for the sins of the whole world.
Man was always a slave to sin.(meaning,Sin/Devil was his master) It is impossible for man to free himself from this sin. When Jesus Christ died for the sins of Man, He paid the price to redeem(buy back)man to God.The sinner is now delivered, and is now viewed as forgiven and justified.
Justification is a legal term, meaning,to declare a person righteous. God who is righteous cannot declare man as righteous without remitting the penalty involved. When Christ died for the ungodly the price was paid in full and now God is able to justify a believing sinner from his unrighteousness and impute the righteousness of Christ on him.
The Bible says that " Man is dead in trespasses and sins." But when a sinner comes to God, believing, the Spirit of God comes to his rescue, and regenerates him.Regeneration is not reformation but a new creation.
When a sinner is regenerated, he is adopted into the family of God. Now he has a new position in the Family of God. He is now a partaker in the wealth of his father.(God Himself) He is slowly being changed into the image of His Son. When the Lord Jesus Christ comes again to take us home we shall see Him and we shall be like Him.

Church
What is the Church?

Every sinner who comes to the Lord believing, is justified,adopted,regenerated and added to His Body, which is the Church.It came into being 2000 years ago.It is not racial,social,national or cultural. It transends all such barriers.It is a fellowship of all those who are born-again.
The Church is the Body of Christ. Just as a body has many members, the Church has many members.Just as abody has to grow, the Church today continues to grow. The true purpose of the Church is to worship God through the Son ie.the Lord Jesus Christ. Just as a burning coal dies by itself but continues to burn if it part of a heap, every member of the Church stays together and grows together.
The Church has a glorious future.The Lord of the Church is going to come again to recieve the Church.In the glory of the millenial kingdom the Church will be with the Lord.
