This section contains various tips on the use of Excel commands and functions. Most
reference books in the market quote commercial/financial examples in the usage of Excel.
However, this site will use engineering applications as examples to explain some of the
useful Excel commands and functions.
e-Handbook:
This is a very powerful and versatile program. It simplifies your daily or "once in a
blue moon" search for answers in a handbook. The program combines useful formula into
an easy to use program where the needs to extract answers from tables, graphs or
nomographs or the interpolation of values, when there is no exact match, will be history.
Microsoft has developed the Excel program to be a very powerful and versatile program.
It is a wonderful program for many engineering works involving tabulated calculations.
However, this is where most of the engineering applications using Excel stops. Most
engineers shy away from trying to program (in VBA) to tap the full power of Excel. In
fact, Microsoft has made programming the Excel using VBA very user friendly and easy to
use. Many samples and actual working VBA will be explained here. The programming codes and
working programs are available in the download section.
