2006 Rugen
Christmas Card
Merry Christmas from the Rugens!
Spring 2006 brought several changes to the Rugen family. Dad had
moved to a senior apartment complex in Jamestown last fall where he
would have more neighbors and fewer icy steps in the winter. As
the months passed, it became apparent that he was not safe living
alone. Around Easter, we had to move him to a nursing home in
Boonville. In May, an opening was available in the Veterans Home
in Warrensburg. His address there is:
Lloyd Rugen
C/O Missouri Veterans Home
1300 Veterans Road
Warrensburg, MO 64093
Missouri Veterans Home, Warrensburg
After school was out in May, we took a trip to the southwest, an area
Betsy had been interested because of the Zane Grey books she uses in
her classroom. We visited Santa Fe, the Petrified Forrest,
Flagstaff, Sunset Crater and the nearby Wupatki National Monument,
the
North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks.
This is Tim's last year of high school at Jamestown and Betsy's 9th
year
teaching there. The season and school year was progressing
normally until the first of December, when the weather decided we need
a few days off to deal with 17" of snow. Luckily, the ice went to
the south and east of us, so all we had to deal with was ice.
Some areas near St. Louis were without power for up to a week.
Andy and Kirby are planning a June 9th, 2007 wedding. Andy has
been working with a large landscaping company near Columbia, we aren't
sure of his title, but he does tell a few people what to do and some of
them even understand English. Kirby will transfer from State Fair
College to (probably) Missouri Valley this spring.
Ben is still working with a siding and window company out of
Prairie Home. He, Andy and one other classmate share a rented
farm house on the other side of Prairie Home.
