Admissions
are given the utmost importance at IBA to ensure that students with appropriate
scholastic abilities and personality traits are inducted. The contest for
admission at IBA is extremely competitive and applications are received
from all over Pakistan and abroad. Admissions are given strictly on merit
and no quota system is followed. Candidates from any area, holding any nationality
may apply. No recommendations from any quarters are entertained. The number
of seats for any program is not fixed and IBA does not compromise on quality
to fill the available capacity.
IBA's full-time honors (specially BBA MIS Honors) and other programs are very popular among students. Every year over three thousand applications are received for BBA Honors programs and a similar number applies for the Masters programs. Less than 5% of the total applicants manage to get admission at IBA. The large number of applicants enables IBA to select students of the highest caliber. The high quality of input raises the standard of education and the level of competition during their stay at IBA and enables IBA to add much greater value to the students. Admissions to IBA Programs are granted to the applicants through a rigorous screening process. The process of admission consists of several tests. A student appears in the next test only if he or she has passed the previous one. The process starts with the applicants appearing in a written aptitude test conducted by IBA and administered after the announcements of admissions. The test measures the students aptitude in verbal, quantitative, general knowledge, and analytical areas. Candidates successful in the aptitude test, are evaluated in an interview by a panel consisting of several faculty members. Those who pass the interview, participate in a group discussion where their confidence, leadership, group behavior, depth of their arguments and presentation skills, are tested. For certain programs, this is followed by an achievement motivation test as a final check of their suitability for studies at IBA. Merit is the only criteria for passing any of these tests. The process is completely
transparent and candidates or their parents can check the answer sheets
of the written tests to verify their performance. The
process of admission typically completes within fifteen days after the
aptitude test. |
