Article I. Name of the Organization:
The Name of this Organization shall be called "Vietnamese
American
Club"; Its abbreviation shall be "VAC"
Article II. Purpose:
- Section 1. To foster friendship, scholarship and work towards
the achievement of high academic and social rewards
- Section 2. To create an atmosphere conducive to mutual assistance
among the Vietnamese students at KCC.
- Section 3. To support the Vietnam History and Culture Project.
- Section 4. To represent the Vietnamese students at KCC.
- Section 5. To promote cultural understanding and Multi dimensional
cooperation and interaction among Vietnamese Students.
- Section 6. To unite Vietnamese Students in order to protect
and develop their interests and especially their cultural heritage
- Section 7. To coordinate and organize cultural and sport activities
to facilitate prevention of drug and alcohol abuse.
- Section 8. To provide fellowship and mutual support.
- Section 9. To foster communication through distribution of a
newsletter and other informative and educational materials.
Article III. Membership:
- Section 1. Membership in the club is open to all persons who
are interested in and subscribe to the purpose and principles of the organization
as set forth in these bylaws and have paid membership dues.
- Section 2. Resignation: Any member may resign by submitting
a written resignation to the secretary.
- Section 3. Removal: A member of the VAC may be romoved for cause,
which includes committing a felony or conduct derogatory to the best interest
of the organization, by affirmative vote of two thirds of the members present
and voting at the meeting. The VAC shall extend all rights to the member
in question during the removal proceeding.
Article IV. Executive Officers:
- Section 1. The executive officers of the Vietnamese American
Club is composed of:
- President
- Vice president
- Secretary
- Treasurer
Article V. Election of Officers
- Section 1. The executive officers of club is constituted by
the president, vice president, secretary, treasurer shall be elected.
- Section 2. Any member who shall be 18 years of age to be eligible
to vote and runs for office. The encumbent officers are to be considered
eligible to run for election.
- Section 3. Elections shall be held each January of the year.
- Section 4. Term of Office: Officers will serve for one year.
Article VI. Duties and Responsibilities of
Elected Officer:
- Section 1. Duties and responsibilities of the President:
- A. In charge of all functions and activities of the Vietnamese American
Club.
- B. Presides over all meetings of executive officers and general meetings.
- C. Represents the Vietnamese American Club at all times.
- D. Responsible to appoint a replacement of any member of both executive
officers in case a vacancy has occurred.
- E. Under emergency circumstances, the President has the authority to
call a general meeting at any time.
- F. In case of there are equal votes on the resolution, the President
has the authority to make final decision.
- G. The president shall countersign all bank notes(Cheques) of expenditures.
- H. Under urgency circumstances,the President has authority to withdraw
funds from the Vietnamese American Club account but not exceed $100.00(one
hundred dollars)
- Section 2. Duties and responsibilities of the Vice President:
- A. Assumes all the duties of the president and responsibilitties when
the president is absent.
- B. Represents the Vietnamese Youth Association upon the non presence
of the president.
- C. Automatically assumes the duties and responsibilities of the president
when the president resigns or removes.
- Section 3. The secretary shall:
- A. Record all notes of meetings of the executive officers and general
meetings.
- B. Report minutes to the meeting executive officers and general meetings.
- C. Compiles and files all records and correct records of roster of
all executive officers and other officers.
- D. Issues and notifies members of the meeting and also arranges the
format of the meeting.
- Section 4. The Treasurer shall:
- A. Receive all donations, issues receipts and files the correct records
and also makes bank deposit in the VAC account.
- B. Countersign all bank notes (Cheques) with the President or Vicepresident.
- C. Reports all financial status of the VAC to the meeting of the executive
officers and general meetings.
- D. To be available at all time to explain the VAC financial records
to any one who is interested or had any questions.
- E. Assumes the duties and responsibilities assigned by the president
and the executive officers.
Article VII. Advisory Board:
The Advisory Board members will assist the Executive officers by making
recommendations and suggestions.
Article VIII. Quorum
- Section 1. A general meeting shall consist of at least 2/3 (two
third) members to constitute a quorum.
- Section 2. All meeting shall be in accordance with Robert's
rules order.
Article IX. Voting
- Section 1. Voting shall be conducted by either secret ballots
or raising hands.
- Section 2. Any resolution shall be passed or approved by the
majority or 1/2+1 (one half plus one) of the members present at the meeting.
Article X. Amendments:
These bylaws can be revised or amended by a two third vote at any regular
meeting of the organization, provided that the amendment has been submitted
at the previous regular meeting.
