POV-Ray creates 3d photo-realistic images using a rendering technique called ray-tracing The package includes detailed instruction on using the ray-tracer and creating scenese. Many stunning scenes are included with POV-Ray so anyone can begin rendering after installing the package.
- POV-Ray can be used under DOS, Windows, MAC's, POWER PC'S, Amiga's, and with various other platforms.
- The source code is also freely available. It is provided for the curious and adventurous!!!
The beauty of POV-Ray is that it doesn't require specific hardware to render. You don't even ened a graphics capable machine to create images (although it is helpfull). Although, attempting to use a 386-16 with out a math-co might prove very frustrating after a few days.
