    Charles Hagedon Guy, 1961-2004
Zombie Studios, 1997 party, December 1999

I was not the best friend I could have been to Charles Hagedon Guy. He was my first office-mate in my first real job. His career and mine co-mingled back and forth for a while. Charles taught me a lot and inspired me, and encouraged me to do all sorts of stuff. He is best known and loved perhaps for Microsoft Space Simulator.

I believe you can find a copy here at The Home of the Underdogs. I believe Charles was proud that you can still find this out of print and rare tool available and free on the internet. It being a MS product, it should still work fine on your machine. I don't know about NT.

He reminded me most of Carl Sagan. He is the reason I was inspired to go to Microsoft. He got his big start at BAO, which got assimilated early on into Microsoft.

The times we had together were mostly private, like riding the Metro back to DC from work, or just talking hanging out somewhere or on the way to something. He was struck down really right when he had made it. He had scored the deal of a lifetime with Sony--then he got the news that each and everyone one of us Most Dreads. His employers should be congratulated. He found out a week or so before he was hired at Sony. Instead of giving him a hard time about his medical insurance, or any BS about "pre-existing condition," Sony stood by him, otherwise it would have been even more rough for him.

Here he is surrounded by people who knew him and many of the people that he loved (including people not shown in pictures). Charles is survived by his mother, two brothers, sisters-in-law, his ex-wife, and his cat Smudge.

I do not believe in death. There is a place prepared for us, I think we reincarnate. See you at the after-party.
