Welcome. The pages contained within this site describe the experience I have gained over the past ten and a half years of working as a consultant, contractor, and developer in the information technology arena. I have divided this site into three primary sections: Professional Experience, Technical Expertise, and a Online résumé. I have also provided an Adobe PDF version of my resume for your convenience.

My foundation is as a developer, in multiple languages, primarily on the Microsoft platform. If the situation requires getting code done, I deliver high quality, clean, working code, quickly and correctly. I consider myself a "jack of all trades" when it comes to development, and can fill many rolls within a team. I have worked as a System Administrator, Project Manager, DBA, Technical Lead as well as a contributing member on both large and small development teams.

Since graduating college, I have been fortunate enough to work in a variety of fields within Information Technology. From network administration to enterprise software development, I have experienced a bit of everything that goes on within an IT department. I started my career working for a small consulting firm that built client/server networks for various law firms, then moved on to a mid sized web development consulting firm which designed and implemented everything from eCommerce sites to corporate Intranet and Extranet web sites. I currently work at Wine.Com, an online retailer of fine wine. I assist in directing a medium volume web site that averages roughly 5000 page views an hour (with spikes well over 10,000 views an hour during the holiday season).

I attended the University of Michigan as an Electrical Engineering Student. I graduated with a Bachelors in Science in the Summer of 1996. Rather than pursuing a career within Electrical Engineering, I chose to pursue a career in computer consulting. My move into consulting was motivated by a desire to work with people, rather than computers. I have found that I have stronger communication skills than many of my technically focused peers, and that this was a great asset in the consulting field. Also, my electrical engineering background gave me good insight in how computers, computer networks, and software worked.

I obtained a MCSE certification (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) in 1999, and from there started to study Microsoft's Distributed Internet Architecture (DNA) for enterprise applications. I found that my skills as a system administrator were a great asset when developing Microsoft based web applications. I could quickly incorporate network security components into web applications, set up roll based database access, as well as integrate the various back office suites into front end Internet or Intranet web sites.

Thanks for your interest, and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
