Java Detector

The message displayed by default when the client browser is not Java 1.1 - enabled.

You've just finished your Java 1.1 applet. But... how can you be sure that the client browser will support it? Java Detector will do this for you: put it in your page in place of your own applet, and give it the URL to your masterpiece. It will then redirect the Java 1.1 - enabled clients to your applet and give a user-friendly error message to the others.

Java Detector works with all browsers, and it is freeware.

Click here to download the program: detector.zip (4Kb, requires winzip or equivalent).

The authors can be reached at jpmartin@earthling.net and alexandre.mermod@epfl.ch.

If you want a demonstration, you can see Java Detector in action on the WOR Preview Page.
