Introduction to WOR

What is WOR?

In WOR (War Of the Robots), robots fight to death in an arena. They use their guns and rocket launchers to try to atomise each other. You can drive the robots yourself, but this is not how WOR is usually played.

The point of WOR

War Of the Robots allows you to program your own robot and then send it fighting against robots programmed by other people to see who really knows what he's doing. You can have them fight on your own machine to polish your strategy, but when the times comes a competition will be held and the the names of the winners will be posted on the WOR's hall of fame for all times.

<-- this is no ill Pac-Man, but your robot! I know, it's ugly. Hopefully someone will volunteer and help us get better graphics.

Program your robot

The comprehensive help (in the download package; only the "Getting Started" is provided online) and numerous examples will get you started in no time. You will write your robot's program in Java, and you can immediately try it and see how it competes against the included demo robots.

Have fun

You can post your program to the web site at any time, and download other people's robots for near real-time competition and absolute fun. Or register and have the new robots sent to you right away so that you can stay on the bleeding edge. And to make it even more fun, WOR is completely free!

Become famous

The names of the winners will be posted on the hall of fame, ensuring you immediate and lasting glory, in addition to an eye-catching line for your resumé. What are you waiting for?
