The New Jaguar X-Type

On Tuesday March 13th 2001, I had the opportunity to veiw a couple of pre-production X-Types in Finland. Unfortunately the cars were outside due to lack of space, and the weather was not at it's best. There were two cars, although I only photographed one, the other was a gold colour that I didn't particularly like.

The Finnish Jaguar X-Type VIP Launch

On Thursday June 7th 2001 the Finnish VIP launch of the Jaguar X-Type was held at Jaguar Espoo. Needless to say my wife and I took advantage of the invitation to attend.

When we arrived there were Jaguars everywhere and the red carpet was out to welcome the guests. We were pleasantly surprised to find a very good buffet, champagne, wine, beer, whisky, live music and of course a nice selection of cars. There were X-Types, S-Types, an XKR, XJ8, a series 1 XJ6 and an E-Type. I took some photographs, mainly of the X-Types but there's also a couple of S-Type shots especially for the folks on JagTalk where there has been some discussion about Emerald S-Types not being availalbe in the US and no manual box, although the Sport is set to change that.

Sighting in Tallinn, Estonia

We went to Tallinn for the weekend of 4th/5th of August 2001 to celebrate another year of my life passing. Right outside our hotel was an X-Type display that could be seen from the window of our hotel room. This was particularly surprising because last time we visited Tallinn, it was still suffering from the bad old days of the USSR. Tallinn seems much more affluent these days and I was pleased to find a coulple of great cigar lounges there, but that's another story!
