bCAD
use a powerful 2D and 3D drafting program
BCAD is a powerful CAD (computer aided drafting) program for DOS. You can use it for 2 dimensional drafting (like a floor plan) or create 3 dimensional objects (like a 3D model of an airplane). BCAD is full of features and tools-- the depth of this program is amazing. You get:
a bevy of 2-D drawing tools, including lines, circles, ellipses, rectangles, and text.
a bevy of 3-D drawing tools, including spheres, cones, toroids, surfaces of revolution, planes, and 3-D text.
all sorts of tools to change perspectives, adjust features, transform objects, etc.
support for a wide variety of printers and plotters.
powerful rendering capabilities that can turn your 3D drawings into realistic looking 3D objects complete with textures and lighting effects. You can even make an animation of your drawing.
a multilevel undo function.
a grid feature with optional "snap to" function.
a calculator.
a picture viewer that can show common file formats like GIF, TARGA, BMP, and JPG as well as FLC movies.
the ability to import and export files in AutoCAD format and 3D Studio formats.
a groovy screen saver that spins these 3d objects made of colored dots. It's quite a show.
context sensitive online help as well as optional balloon help.
support for light pen and Sumagraphics tablet pointing devices as well as the mouse.
The tools and features of this program show remarkable depth and flexibility. As an example, consider the print function. When you print you can chose to print the whole drawing, or only that part currently visible in the window. Further, you can make a printout that will be scaled to fit on one page or you can scale the printout of the drawing in any ratio you like. You can print in either landscape or portrait mode, can print as many copies as you like, can print only certain pages, and can print to a file rather than the printer.
BCAD looks like a truly professional CAD program that you could easily pay hundreds of dollars for. And you can have it for nothing!
