I have spent a long time looking at this QUESTION and I am still not sure what it is, I
went with (a) in the end. if you know a good explanation to this QUESTION I would really
like to hear it.
QUESTION 6: You are checking the disk performance of a workstation in
your
domain from your PDC.You see that all disk statistics are at 0 (zero), what
is the most possible cause of this?
a. Workstation service does not run on the workstation
b. Server service does not run on the workstation
c. diskperf -y has not been not started on the workstation
d. diskmanager has not been not started on the workstation
has to be (c) try it, you wont get anything until you use diskperf -y
QUESTION 7: You two domains, WEST and CORP. WEST trust CORP. Somebody
logs
in from a workstation in the WEST domain onto the CORP domain Which
resources can be accessed? guest accounts on both domains are at the default setting.
a. all resources which are given rights to the corp\Domain users group
b. all resources which are given rights to the corp\Domain guests group
c. all resources which are given rights to the west\Domain users group
d. all resources which are given rights to the west\Domain guests group
I spent a week discussing the guest account and logging in from different domains. the QUESTION
in the exam may not mention the guest accounts are at default. you are expected to know
the default is (the guest account is disabled, the default name is guest and the password
is blank.)
the answer for the above is (a) the reason why?
if you try this out at home you will see after you make WEST trust CORP that WEST has 2
choices in the drop down box and CORP only has one. now I thought it would be the other
way around. now because west trust corp, corp is trusted to use the computers in west to
log into the corp domain.
so you are basically using the west domain computer to get into your account which is in
the corp domain so you will have all resources which are given rights to the corp\Domain
users group because that is where your user account is.
now if the QUESTION had said that a user logged into the corp domain from the west domain
and his user account is in the west domain then the user had to have used the guest
account all resources which are given rights to the corp\Domain guests group because HOW
can he access his user account by logging into the corp domain.
sorry for the long speal but I spent a lot of time on this one, had to get it off my
chest.
QUESTION 8: You have the following domain configuration:
Management

QUESTION 9: You have a PDC which does run WINS and it's only function is
account validation. How can you optimize the performance of this domain
controller using the server program in ontrol panel:
a. Minimize memory
b. Balance
c. Optimize for file sharing
d. Optimize for network applications
There has been a lot of talk on this one and I spent a lot of time on it (technet), if it
is a domain controller regardless of what it is doing it has to be (d) which is also the
case if it is a plain old server is using SQL or access. now if it was a plain old server
with file and print sharing on it the answer would be (c)
QUESTION 10: You have a Windows NT server with six scsi disks. On one

in the disk administrator?
a. Choose extend volume set in the partition menu
b. Choose regenerate in the fault tolerance menu
c. Choose make stripe set with parity and restore from backup
d. Do nothing, the disk wil be regenerated when NT boots
in this case it has got to be (c) now in my exam it said the system partition failed and
the only 2 possible answers were:
1. do a repair on the server? do they mean repair disk? search me.
2. boot Nt with a boot disk
I eventually went with 2. BOOT Nt WITH A BOOT DISK but not sure because of the bad wording
of the QUESTION
QUESTION 11: You have a Windows NT server with six scsi disks. On one
disk is the system partition, the other five are in a stripset with

b. Choose regenerate in the fault tolerance menu
c. Choose make stripe set with parity and restore from backup
d. Do nothing, the disk wil be regenerated when NT boots
it has to be (c) one failed disk is ok but 2! no chance
watch out for stripe set and stripe set without parity they are the same thing which
is obvious but very easy to miss in the exam under pressure.
QUESTION 12: You have the jobs to make new custom fault tolerance
standard for your company. The company now uses disk duplexing as the
current standard.

a. The required result and the optional results.
b. The required result and one of the optional results.
c. The required result only.
d. Does not produce the required result or the optional
results.
see the sly trick, stripeset WITHOUT parity, It does not meet the required result so it
has to be (d) if you cant meet any of the required then Does not produce the
required result or the optional results.
QUESTION 14: You are using network monitor from the Windows NT server 4.0
standard installation. You have just captured 400 frames from your
NT server. How can you display data originating from one specific
computer to your server.

Required results:
Brokers need access to the domain. Only the brokers may log in and no
other users.
Optional results:
Passwords are transmitted encrypted over the line. All data must be
transmitted encrypted.
Proposed solution:
Use a password length with a minimum of 8 characters. Let the system
remember the last 10 used passwords. Force the brokers to change their
password every month. Install a RAS server and configure it with the RAS
manager so that only the brokers have permission to log in. Use the
Microsoft authentication method. use the set by caller.
What does the proposed solution produce?
a. The required result and the optional results.
b. The required result and one of the optional results.
c. The required result only.
d. Does not produce the required result or the optional
results.
answer is (b) NOW there is a lot of discussion on this and I have found the source of it,
some books where published a few years ago stating that if you use nt over ras to another
nt machine the data is by default encrypted and if you use microsoft authentication the
data is by default encrypted (CRAP CRAP CRAP) this crap cost me a lot of study time.
Their new book now states the corrections.
if you use any authentication including clear text the passwords are still encrypted, if
you any type of ras connection with NT passwords are still encrypted BUT if you want data
encrypted you have to put a tick in the BOX stating that you want data encryped.
QUESTION 17: Your company uses the single domain model. Brokers with NT

other users.
Optional results:
Passwords are transmitted encrypted over the line. All data must be
transmitted encrypted.
Proposed solution:
Use a password length with a minimum of 8 characters. Let the system
remember the last 10 used passwords. Force the brokers to change their
password every month. Install a RAS server and configure it with the RAS
manager so that only the brokers have permission to log in. Use any
authentication method. Use a hardware security host between the RAS
modem and the RAS server.
What does the proposed solution produce?
a. The required result and the optional results.
b. The required result and one of the optional results.
c. The required result only.
d. Does not produce the required result or the optional
results.
I went with (d) here because in the previous QUESTION it mentioned using call back for the
ras user, it did not mention it here and they wanted the highest level of security.
if they had not mentioned call back in the previous QUESTION I would have chosen (b) again
