HTML Calendar - Instructions
HTML Calendar (abbreviated hcal) is a CGI-based application
for viewing calendars in a nicely-formatted form. The functionality of
this is essentially equivalent to that of the
UNIXTM command cal. There is indeed a CGI-based
calendar
application usually available with httpd distributions.
Why hcal then? Hmmm... Grrr..., okay,
if we have to support the existence and usability of hcal,
we argue that hcal outputs are much
neater as compared to those of calendar. More specifically,
calendar outputs preformatted text, whereas hcal
outputs colorful html tables. Whether this is a sufficient reason for you
to justify further browsing from this page is, of course, your choice.
I would rather insist: have a look at it before taking a decision.
How to use
It's almost obvious. Click on one of the four buttons in the upper frame.
The button Show calendar shows
the calendar corresponding to the Year, Month and Date selected.
The year must be between 1 and 9999 (both inclusive). The Date field
is optional. A value of 0 or a blank value implies ``all days'' in the
year or month chosen. Pressing the other three buttons displays exactly
what is written on them.
Requirements
- A JavaScriptTM enabled browser (preferably
netscape, version 2.0 onwards)
- hcal.c and util.c if you want to compile the program
on your own machine. The second file is not bundled with the hcal
distribution. This can be obtained from
NCSA.
