Palm Pilot

Reviews

GoType keyboard
No doubt about it, it works. The question for me was, "is it useful for me ?". I spend a lot of my time taking down my thoughts on certain subjects. These subjects may be designs, reviews or plain old things that I should remember. The beauty of the palm pilot is that it is always handy. When I chose to buy the pilot the biggest decision I had to make was whether I could do without the keyboard. At the time I had been using a Palm series 3a for over a year with great success. The biggest problem with the Psion was it's size, it wasn't always handy because it wasn't in my pocket. The Palm device fits in every pocket I have ! Would I carry the GoType keyboard with me every where I went ? No. I am a software engineer by trade and most of the time there is a computer handy for my use. It was my wife who gave me this tip. I only need the palm device at home when I am outside and am too lazy to go to one of the two PCs in our apartment or I am in bed and I am too lazy to go to one of the two PCs in our apartment. OK she has a point. If the palm device is your computer full stop then I recommend the GoType. If you travel without a laptop (or do 't want to wait for it to boot) then, yes I recommend it. One great advantage that the GoType has is that there is no other choice. It definitely works. It is not the nicest key board I have ever uaed but it it is by no means a lemon of a keyboard, I would be quite happy to touch type away with it.

WriteRight
It really works. I used my pilot for 6 months and scratched the Graffiti part of the screen to pieces, I thought it was damaged for good. I was a bit loathe to pay $50 to try it out but the friendly store assistant sold me just one. Well I am sold. The scratches are gone and more. The feeling when using the stylus is much nicer. It feels like there is some feedback. I was (and still am) a little paranoid that I have lost some screen redability. I can see what I am writing just fine and put my doubts down to comparing my personal palm with the new and improved Palm V.

2MB Upgrade
I thought I would never do it but I have and I am glad. Taking a fresh synical look at the mail application has mellowed me, it's fantastic.
