Le Cuvier
Montmarre
Le Cuvier is a traditional French eating house, so don't expect the Ritz, do however expect to speak French - the menu is only in French and the waiters do not speak English. You will get good "home cooked" French food and it will be cheap. A meal for six with two bottles of French red cost around 95F a head (10 GBP!).

Metro: Auber/Opera
Two of the largest department stores in Paris. Have a browse - if there's a sale on, there'll be bargains to be had. Both are adjacent and right in the center of Paris, close to the Opera House, which is worth a quick look. Mine was a very quick look, as it pissing it down at the time!
Getting about...
The Paris Metro is a wonder to behold. Unlike the rest of France, technology doesn't abound, but it gets you from A to B quickly and cheaply. A slightly more expensive RER ticket offers a faster route, with less stops, from Airports to city and main destinations like La Defense.  Both BA and Air France fly to Paris, but the flights offer little in the way of food, so eat well before you set off. Charles de Gaulle is a rather miserable airport, but has a few nice shops in Terminal 2.
