WORK EXPERIENCE:

CBSI/Sentinel Technologies - Tempe, AZ
5/98 to Present - LAN Analyst

Currently I do Network Administration for several different clients - This consists of managing users (creating, deleting, and modifying user and mail accounts), managing resources (adding / removing network printers and files, managing the level of access users have to these), maintaining servers (consists of monitoring disk space / memory / and network usage, monitoring event logs for issues and troubleshooting any issues that arise, patching servers, monitoring network backups and virus protection and changing / updating as necessary) and network infrastructure (monitoring UPS / routers / hubs). I act as a technical liason for clients when dealing with their vendors as it relates to their computing environment and also provide technical assistance to the users with hardware and software related issues as well as assisting in weekly tasks that come up (Ie: new system builds / deployments, software testing / deployment). The server platforms I support are Windows NT and 2000 servers and client platforms include Windows 9x, NT, 2000, and XP.

Previous Project was setting up a Non-Profit church on a shoe string budget for internet access and new computers. 6 PCs were set up with Windows 2000 workstation (replacing 9x computers) and one was chosen to act as a "server" for providing shared access to applications, files, and internet access as well as nightly backups. Consulted with vendors on Windows 2000 compatibility with their applications and how to set up in a networked environment.

Previous Project was assisting in the re-deployment of workstations / servers to 2 inbound call centers and installing new workstations for the operators at one of them. The new workstations were Win2K workstations and needed to be configured with several custom applications. I assisted with troubleshooting to gain / restore network access (there were issues with IP addressing and the DHCP lease setup that needed to be resolved and the cabling vendor was having issues with activating the network at the new call center as well as keeping it active). After loading the clients the Policy Editor was used to lock down the computers as the operators were not allowed to have access to the internet or local files. After Hours I assisted with the move of the servers to a new cabinet and had to troubleshoot network connectivity issues relating to moving servers to new switches / cabinet. I also for this client have built 2 Compaq servers (NT 4.0, 1 Exchange, 1 BDC) for their corporate office. I deployed them on-site, migrated user data and installed and configured Backup Exec for network backups as well as Norton Corporate Edition Anti Virus. Deployed the Anti Virus software to call centers from corporate office location, updated virus definitions, scanned for viruses, and cleaned viruses, all using the Symantec command console.

Previous Project was a Windows 2000 deployment for a client moving to a new office location. 18 Win2K workstations and 2 Win2K servers were deployed. A pre-existing web server and proxy server were migrated to the environment as well as 2 Win95 PCs and 1 Macintosh G4. Created DMZ for servers needing direct internet accessibility and put workstations behind firewall/proxy. Rolled out video conferencing equipment and currently testing Microsoft ISA to provide routing of NetMeeting calls into and out from private network. Functioned as a technical lead and was primary contact for network setup or deployment issues.

Previous Project was supporting a Netware/NT environment on the desktop level. Supported both Win95, 98, and NT clients running different versions of the Netware client. Supported users with software issues ranging from needing applications installed to ODBC issues preventing software from working properly. Software supported ranged from MS Office and Outlook to distributed legal tracking software.

Previous Project involved a law firm's migration from WordPerfect 6 to Microsoft Word 97 and detailed all of he excruciating details that were involved with document management (DOCs Open and SafetyGain) and other soft wares for the law firm integrated into their software. Tested new builds of software, provided floor support for users and trainers experiencing technical difficulties, worked on longer term issues and provided solutions to several. Assisted with their document conversions.

Previous Project involved PC upgrades for Y2K. Function was as a technical lead. Responsibilities included flying out to states across the Midwest and planning routes of sites for upgrades. Served as a resource for technical issues for the team. Participated in the upgrade of these machines as well (upgrade consisted of a hardware upgrade ie:new computer and also a data transfer of critical database files).

Previous Project involved a pilot of an unattended Windows 95 rollout. Responsibilities included creating installation scripts and custom INF files for loading windows over the network, package creation with SMS installer 2.0, and writing batch files to install applications/set desktops up for users.

Previous Project involved a Windows NT 4.0 roll-out. Responsibilities include setting up user applications for mainframe and UNIX connectivity, resolving any issues with the NT and their networking configuration or personal settings, educating users to re-enforce what they previously learned in class and enhance their productivity.

Previous Project involved a LAN Server/Wiring assessment for a chain of hospitals along the West Coast. Responsibilities include visiting hospital facilities to gather information on Server and Desktop configurations as well as networking hardware and infrastructure counts and configurations. Also responsible for interviewing IT staff for information, and compiling the information to create site manuals detailing the assessment results.
