Graphics:

-2020 (2020s.zip) (Windows)
This is a strange program: it is free... because it shows advertsiments!
It is an interesting graphic editor, allowing lot of special effects on full images or sections of them. It also support adding "comments" to images, i.e. you can add vector graphics to an image, modify them until you are satisfied, and then save the image with changes you made.
Support lots of format, also EPS, PNG and WMF.

Nice. Plot 2D and 3D functions, deleting hidden lines; it alos solves simple algebric calculations.

-DrawMe (drawme.zip) (Windows)
Absolutely free vector graphic program!!! Supports multiple documents, OLE, WMF exporting.

-DrawPlus
Add-on for PagePlus, but also stand-alone program, to create vector-graphic
drawings, and save them in WMF format.

-GrafX (gfx2b961.zip) (DOS)
****WARNING****
You can find lot of stuff with GrafX name, around the Net; but, this program is what you were searching for since you needed to create your own picture the first time!! This program is astonishing: it has a lot of features that I couldn't find in any other PC program, even in a commercial one I had in bundle with my scanner! Stencil, smear, transparency, a very good airbrush (many programs have owful airbrushes, and they are shareware...), smooth, to hide boundaries of images pasted on other images, and all you need to edit, retouch and embellish your photos, or to create your own pictures! Besides, the program supports dozens of different resolutions, from 320x200x256 to 1024x768x65536, and perhaps better ones if you have a good video card....
Unfortunately, adding text to images is not (yet) supported, but authors say they will add this feature in next version.
Supported format are PKM, LBM, GIF, BMP, PCX, IMG, SC?, CEL, KCF and PAL. If you need other formats, you can use Viewer Pro to make conversions between dozens of format (WMF included).

-Grids (ENGRIDS.ZIP) (Windows)
Interesting vector graphic program with lot of function; important feature of this program is availability of ready-to-use libraries with lot of different symbols
, and ability to keep objects linked by lines which remain connected to objects also if you move them: it is very useful to draw diagrams and flow-charts. Program does not support many file formats, but it allows OLE, so you can move objects to/from any other application you like.
See also Page Plus.

-Hijaak Morph (hjmorph.exe) (Windows)
This program allows to create animations showing real-time transformation of a picture to an other. Quite fun.

-Imager (imager.zip) (Windows)
More than 3Mb of stuff for an owful program. I review it just to warn you know not to download it if you find a link to it: don't waste your bandwidth!

-KwikDraw (kdrwxxx.zip) (Windows)
Quite interesting vector graphic program; unfortunately, the free version allows adding only a few objects (around 30); useful only for very simple graphics.

-LView Pro (LVIEWPxx.ZIP) (Windows)
Great file viewer; supports lot of file formats.

MorphMan 1.1 (mman11.zip) (Windows 95)
Interesting morphing program, with many options and many file formats supported (also AVI).

-PageDraw (pgdraw20.zip) (Windows)
Another free vector graphic program. Requires Adobe Type Manager to be installed on your system. To install it, install an old version of Adobe Acrobat Reader
(ftp://ftp.netcom.com/pub/ra/rajeev/acroread.exe)

-Page Plus Intro (ppintro.exe)
Very powerful DTP program to create vector graphic documents. See also Grids and Pagedraw (now Mayuradraw).

-Repeated Dots Stereograms (RDSzzz.ZIP) (Windows 3.1 e 95) (Allows creating stereograms, also with a background image, instead of dots background; works on externally edited gray-scale pictures).

-Randot (RANDOTxx.ZIP) (Windows 3.1, 95) (Similar to RDS, but with internal (small) image editor; produces only 640*480 stereograms.

-Ultimate Paint (up.zip) (Windows)
Interesting graphic editor for Windows; it is not just a program to add special effects to images, like many "graphic editor" available on Internet: it is a real editor, with basic functions. It is still under developing, so it isn't yet a very good program (it haven't yet a good print option), but I think we should check it in next months...
Please note: you must download this program from its home page.
Besides, you will need DirectX module. Download it from here if program does not work.

-Viewer Pro (http://members.aol.com/brandyware/Downloads/Viewer.zip) (Windows)
It is just incredible how many format this program supports! Dozen of graphic and multimedia files are supported, also WMF, AVI, FLC, ZIP (!!), and MID, WAV, ICO, and RTF, WRI, .....!!! And all this power, in 0.99 Mb!!!
Why are you still waiting?!?

-Visual (http://www.fabrizio.jth.it)
Viewer, converter and special effects generator for pictures; does not allow pixel by pixel editing (see Ultimate Paint and GrafX for this).

Hypertext editors:
-AolPress 2.0 32 bit (aolp20_32.exe) (Windows 95) (Windows 3.1)

-Iper Edit 2.16 (ins216.zip) (Windows 3.1, 95) (freeware; vote: 9.5)
GREAT!! Allow WYSYWYG editing of HTML, HLP and AEH files!!
http://www.polito.it/iper

-RTFGEN (rtfg203a.zip)
If you don't want to learn RTF format, and you don't want to buy very expensive RTF-supporting word processor, you can use RTF Generator to create WinHelp files from simple ASCII files containing formatting parameters similar to RTF ones, but easier to learn, and well explained. RTFGEN is also an IDE to develop Help files without openig DOS shells.

Icon editors for Windows 95:
With Windows 95 you do not need any icon editor: just create a 32*32 image with Paint, and save it as 16 colors image, adding .ICO extension.
You can also “grab” icons from executable files:
create a temporary link to any program you want; then, select “Change icon” in properties window, press “Browse and select your executable; now, press ALT+STAMP: current window will be stored into clipboard. Now, run Paint, import the clipboard (with Paste), cut the icon you want, create a 32*32 image and paste the icon; then, save the image as described above.

Music:

-AudioLab (alab11d.zip)
Simple editor for WAV files; currently supports only 8 bit-mono files.

-Jazz (jz16v22b.zip) (windows)
Simple sequencer, to view and edit midi files, also connecting to an external midi instrument.

-Tornado (tornado.zip) (Windows) ( tornado_midi@hotmail.com oppure  agustin.rodriguez@usa.net)
Very complex (and complete?) MIDI sequencer, with a lot of functions. I didn't experimented with all of them, but if you like MIDI music ypu should do it.

-WaveFlow (wflow2in.zip) (Windows)
Very powerful WAV files editor with lot of functions and special effects; fade, reverb, invert, robotize, amplify, filter, equalize.... Supports all formats (8bit-mono -> 16 bit-stereo).

Others:
-Tutordo (tutengxxx.zip) (DOS)
Simple file manager.

Screen grabbers:
Perhaps not all of you know that under Windows environment you do not need any screen grabber: just press STAMP (entire screen) or ALT+STAMP (selected window) to copy the image to the clipboard, and import it into any graphic program with a simple PASTE.
Besides, you can copy to the clipboard all the text of a DOS windows by pressing SHIFT + * (on the keypad).

Science:
Design Center  by Microsim (80dlabX.exe, X=1..9) (Windows 95)
A very powerful electronic circuit simulator, with graphic editing of circuits and a function to generate PCB layers (I think this is the name....:)  ). Look also at the home page.

Math assistant  (windows)
Unuseful program do not download it unless you have time and hard disk space to waste...

-PsiMath (http://psido.exp.univie.ac.at/psimath/)
Sceintific calculator with plotting capability and support of many elementary, trigonometric and logarithmic functions.
Quite curious program....

Spice (Electronic circuits simulator)
If you want to know where to find any new and old version of Spice, look at here!
