It is an interesting graphic editor, allowing lot of special effects on full

-GrafX
(gfx2b961.zip) (DOS)
****WARNING****
You can find lot of stuff with GrafX name, around the Net; but,
this program is what you were searching for since you needed to create
your own picture the first time!! This program is astonishing: it has a
lot of features that I couldn't find in any other PC program, even in
a commercial one I had in bundle with my scanner! Stencil, smear, transparency,
a very good airbrush (many programs have owful airbrushes, and they are
shareware...), smooth, to hide boundaries of images pasted
on other images, and all you need to edit, retouch and embellish your photos,
or to create your own pictures! Besides, the program supports dozens of different
resolutions, from 320x200x256 to 1024x768x65536, and perhaps better ones
if you have a good video card....
Unfortunately, adding text to images is not (yet) supported, but authors
say they will add this feature in next version.
Supported format are PKM, LBM, GIF, BMP, PCX, IMG, SC?, CEL, KCF and PAL.
If you need other formats, you can use Viewer Pro to make conversions between
dozens of format (WMF included).
-Grids
(ENGRIDS.ZIP) (Windows)
Interesting vector graphic program with lot of function; important feature
of this program is availability of ready-to-use libraries with lot
of different
symbols, and
ability to keep objects linked by lines which remain connected to objects
also if you move them: it is very useful to draw diagrams and flow-charts.
Program does not support many file formats, but it allows OLE, so you can
move objects to/from any other application you like.

internal (small) image editor; produces only 640*480 stereograms.
-Ultimate Paint
(up.zip) (Windows)
Interesting graphic editor for Windows; it is not just a program to add special
effects to images, like many "graphic editor" available on Internet: it is
a real editor, with basic functions. It is still under developing,
so it isn't yet a very good program (it haven't yet a good print option),
but I think we
should check it in next
months...
Please note: you must download this program from its
home page.
Besides, you will need DirectX module.
Download it from here
if program does not
work.

-RTFGEN
(rtfg203a.zip)
If you don't want to learn RTF format, and you don't want to buy very expensive
RTF-supporting word processor, you can use RTF Generator to create WinHelp
files from simple ASCII files containing formatting parameters similar to
RTF ones, but easier to learn, and well explained. RTFGEN is also an IDE
to develop Help files without openig DOS shells.
Icon editors for Windows 95:
With Windows 95 you do not need any icon editor: just create a 32*32
image with Paint, and save it as 16 colors image, adding .ICO
extension.
You can also grab icons from executable files:
create a temporary link to any program you want; then, select Change
icon in properties window, press Browse and select
your executable; now, press ALT+STAMP: current window will be stored into
clipboard. Now, run Paint, import the clipboard (with Paste), cut the icon
you want, create a 32*32 image and paste the icon; then, save the image as
described above.
