The Quest For Glory II contains some funny easter-eggs and jokes. If you happen to have found other ones, please send them to the e-mail address stated on the index screen.
The first jokes will be found at the main-menu. Just hold shift and click on the:
Feather(an old-fashion word-processor)
Feather-stand(Koko the clown lived here many years ago)
Candle(Is this your trial by fire? Nah... to small)
Candle-stand(This belongs to nimble jack)
Scroll(Even in early word-processing, they used scrolling techniques)
In case you haven't noticed, thanks to the enterprise, the carpet nearly crashes. Oops, I'm wrong, it's the U.S.S. Exitprise(can be found at Keapon's shop... thanks to Brian Stumpf for correcting me.)
If you throw a dagger at the plant-woman Julanar(a few screens east of Shapier) the dagger will bounce, en hit your monitor. It isn't polite to throw a dagger at a woman. By the way, you're also Game Over.
If you buy the glasses at Keapon Laffin, then you can see this easter egg in Rasier. When you meet Zayisha exchange clothes. When the woman change clothes, you can see through the veil. The glasses are X-RAY glasses.(Thanks to Joshua Marotti for this joke) (BTW This is Lori's favorite Easter Egg)
Also, for the silliest way to die here, exchange clothes again after exchanging . You'll see what I mean... At the guild hall, you can see a moose stuffed. You might notice that this moose also appears in all other QFG games. Thanks to Domen Novak, we noticed this joke
you can see a griffin some screens to the west of shapier. When you ask him something, he begins to talk. Now you will learn, that your hero can't talk griffin's. The hero tries to translate, but i don't think he isn't doing it right. He think the griffin say's thinks like(my favorite): Excuse me, but your camel has fallen on my mother. Thanks to herald_mage@hotmail.com for this joke. Also, DeSiena@prodigy.net told us, that the griffin is called Merv. The griffin is named after Merv Griffin who owns some resorts in Atlantic City
Try to ask something to Simba. He'll eventually say something back.(big show-off) But for an even more funnier respons, try to kick him whilst he's looking to the other side. You'll learn that he has got a bad attitude at heroes who kick him!
You can sometimes see some guy, walking in the streets, playing some kind of horn. This guy will only bump up, on day 3. This actually Harpo Marx (Thanks to Quester for telling me the name)
You can see some kind of model, with planets moving in it, at the astrologer. Ask the astrolger about the model. He'll tell you that its a model, containing such planets as Xenon, Ortega, Pestulon, Phleebhut, and Uranus. He doesn't know what to think about Uranus though(You will have to land on these planets, except Uranus, in Space Quest III)
Just like the moose(see above), there is also another animal which appear in every chapter of Quest for Glory. This time, it is a black bird statue. You can steal him at Khaveen's bedroom. Thanks to herald_mage@hotmail.com and "fertilayzer" for this one, and Domen Novak for helping me to grab a picture.
The katta's who sell rations at the fountain plaza are nephews from Shema
and Shameen and are called Sloree and Scoree(Who are called after Lori Ann
and Corey Cole, the creators from the Quest for Glory saga)
When you're talking with Aziza about Julanar, and the Silly Clowns option is on, the hero will give some comments to Aziza.
Ali Fakir, the frustrating seller of saurusses, is none other than Groucho
Marx(Thanks to Quester for telling me this appearance)
The map salesman is none other than Chico Marx.(Thanks to Quester for telling me this appearance)
When you are at the money seller, type "look at boobs". The computer will respond "Nice.", instead of the I don't understand.(I've lost the name of the person who has send this, will you please raise your hand, or send a mail?)
Look at franc, the guard at the money seller, and try to see how many names of
money you can find...
Do you want to know why Aziza doesn't want you to ask about water at Keapon
Laffin? Simple, ask it yourself, and get ready for some bad puns
When you're going to speak with Aziza about Rasier, the Saurus will enter. After he "GRONKS", you'll see his name is Roget The Saurus. That's a parody of Roget's Thesarus, a standard English Literature/composition reference book.
You can hear the music from Baba Yaga house(from Quest for Glory I) at the lava room in the forbidden city...
When you arrive at the WIT's main hall, you can see painting of famous wizards, including : Houdini, Aziza, Zara, Erasmus, Merlin and Genesta... no wait... that's Erana. If you ask me, she is Genesta's twin sister(Genesta appears in Sierra's KQ4) One small thing : The spirit you see of Erana(pictured left) , at the end of QFG4 doesn't really look like the painting of Erana( pictured right)
Sometimes when you see some animations(the sun going up in the west, the
hero on the pile of brigands etc.), shift-click on things. Sometimes, you
get strange messages, like when you click on the hero on the pile of brigands,
you get "king of the mountains" three times, or when you click on the saurus,
you get "a ship of desert".
In the desert, you can see mirages when the silly clowns option us turned on. The mirages you can see are : King Arthur lying dead on the sand, a mirage who's flying by, and a golfer. Gary also told me that this golfer is likely Bob Hope from the old Hope/Crosby road trip movies. He says that it's him, because he always has that Gold Club with him on USO tours. I am in need of some help with this joke, so if you have seen this joke, please check the help section.
When you are initiating on the path of magic(where all the tests come from), shift+click in space for some very silly messages.
Also, a very nice one. Scramble the letters of Rasier(name of the second city), and you get Sierra.
Also at the entrance to WIT, when they ask you which sponsor you choose, say Houdini. He won't be your sponsor, because he's "tied up" for the moment.
