Space Quest V (Icon)
The Next Mutation

The 256-colour Space Quest IV version contains some funny easter-eggs and jokes. If you happen to have found other ones, please send them to the e-mail address stated on the index screen.

First of all, the title is based on the next Generation. Also, Roger getting his own ship, the music stylings, etc. are all parodies of Star Trek - The original series.(Send in by Gary)

Outside the StarCon Academy you can see an old ship, who is about to go to the trash. It looks just like the enterprise, don't you think?

You see this beauty right here? It could be yours, if you call 1-800-FESTER-BLATZ. (Fester is an alien from SQ3)

In class, right behind Roger sits Woof(Of course, this one must be called after Star Trek's Worf)

When you approach the hallway leading to the StarCon Academy crest from the south, you can see 2 jedi's fighting their way right to the crest. Don't they look like Obi-Wan-Kenobi and Darth Vader fighting? But what could they be doing here in SQ5?

When you are walking east from the center of Star-Con, you can see Elvis just walking by. He is alive and well in SQ5.

When you are walking away from the crest, after cleaning it, and after you humiliation at the conference, you can shee shpock. Doesn't the name remind you of Spock from the old Enterprise. But this can't be that spock, this one has to many... logical emotions.

Somewhere in the Eureka, you can see above the transporter, a very complexing, virtual, computer program installation(But here on Earth it's just called Pong)

At the EVA, somewhere left, you can see three bars. When you use the HAND icon, on the bar most to the left, an astro chicken comes out of it.

Sometimes when you beam back to the Eureka, a transporter blooper happens to Roger.(This can best be viewed at the space bar. Just walk on the transporter, and Energize, and at the space bar, walk back on the transporter etc.)

When you see the strange transmission from the strange alien, and when the strange sequence continues at the strange starcon room, and you see the strange arm, you can see right of him, a strange cup from Dynamix (Another company in the gaming business).

At the space bar, you can see an alien, just southeast of the main screen. TALK to him, and you will learn some of his colorful language.

The weapons which the evil mutants are using, to shoot the soup at other person's, look the same as Super Soakers.

At the beginning of the maze, walk north, then west. Pac-Man appears!

The training room is shaped like the millenium falcon(The cockpit is found in the upper left part of the unit)(Submitted by Gary)

The moons in the Academy crest room are parodies. The one on the left is one of the nine moons of nova(Parody from Dynamix's game "Nova 9"), and the moon on the right is Vulcan.(Send in by Gary)

The security guards in the crest room are playing video games. The one on the left is playing Missile Command, whilst the one on the right is playing asteroids(Submitted by Gary)

Roger's first meeting with Beatrice is a take-off of the "Dream Weaver", a sequence from Wayne's World(Submitted by Gary)

The character of the Merchant of Venus is both a pun of "The Merchant of Venice" and a spoof of Cyrano Jones, who sold the Tribbles that got out of hand on Star Trek, just like the Space Monkey's(Send in by, you guessed it, Gary)

The three moons of Klorox II are named Moe, Larry, and Curley(The 3 stooges) (Once again, send in by Gary)

A few of the planet names are parodies in the G6 system(Submitted by Gary)

Commodore LXIV - Commodore 64 -- Early home computer
Gingivitis - Gum Disease/Dental Infection
Klorox II - Chlorox 2-- Brand-name laundry bleach
Kiz Urazgubi - Kiss your ass goodbye
Monostadt VII - Monostat 7-- Brand-name feminine hygiene cream
Spittoonie - Parody of Tattooine
Thrakus - Parody of Arakis

The game played at the space bar, Battle Cruiser, is a spoof of Battle Ship.(Send in by Gary)
