If you need more info on DOS drivers for your CDRom device, check out my selected CD-Rom DOS drivers list.
There are a number of ways to determine your cd-drive model, I hope one of these methods will work for you.
- If you are lucky the information will be printed right on your drive, however I think most of the drives have no makings what so ever. All my CD-Rom Drive says is 4X fast 600 KBS transfer rate.
- Well another place to look is on your system credentials sheet. This is a pre-printed piece of paper with all the specifications of your system printed on it.
- Next you can see if your system has the systems credentials program, if so run it and it should tell you your CD-Rom model.
- Right click on my computer and choose properties, next choose the device manager tab. Click on the + sign where it says CDRom and if your system is configured properly it should give you the name of your CDRom device.
- If you find a FCC ID number on your CDRom you can visit one of the many FCC ID number look up services and you should be able to ID your CDRom.
I have selected a list of the more popular CDRom devices to show you what the DOS drivers for a CD Ron are like. If you need to use the CDRom is DOS you will need to edit a systems file in order to get it to work.Windows 95 does not require these driver settings, however if you are playing games in DOS you may need to have CD-ROM access when in DOS. The information below can also help you make a boot disk that requires CD-ROM access.
If your CDRom device is not listed, use the CD Rom chart above, Packard Bell should give you the info you need.
