Picture of the Month - The Best Art & Photography

Autumn Cherry - August 2006
Autumn 2006 approaches, the leaves are getting brown and cherries fall to the ground. I love the browns in this scene, with a slight splash of green and that radiant red

Moorhen Chick - July 2006
I came across a Moorhen chick basking in the sunshine. Fortunately I had my 75-300 with a 1.4x teleconverter so I managed to get some very closeup images. It helped that being young it had not learned to fear humans yet so I managed to get within a few yards of it anyhow, I took about 100 shots of this ultra cute chick, here is one of my personal favourites

Tulips - May 2006
While walking to my local park I saw these tulips posing for a photo which seems more like art. It was an overcast day so I set the white balance on my 7D to make the most of the colours, I have also played with the colours on my computer, perhaps I over did it :)

Water Lilies - April 2006
In the early 1900's Claude Monet did some truly lucious oil paintings of water lilies, I also did an oil on this subject and here is a photo taken with my 7D of some lovely lilies in the style of Monet, but taken in the UK not France. This shot is about equal measure of art and photography

Robin - December 2005
A festive photo of a Robin, if only there was snow this would have been perfect. This was taken with my 7D and cheap 75-300 lens, not a bad job I think

Ladybirds - May 2005
One of first pictures taken with my new Minolta 7D and shows what an amazing camera it is

Headcase - November 2004
Created by photographing the bookcase, and serveral shots of my head in different positions and compositing them together, along with a bit of manually added shadow

Frosty Leaves - November 2003
Taken in macro mode with my Nikon Coolpix 3100 on a cold and frosty November morning, I had to adjust the camera exposure to ensure sufficient darks and lights
