How to rig a Topper
1. With a partner, remove a Topper hull from the trailer and transport to rigging area.
2. Collect a Sail, Mast upper section, Mast lower section, Rudder, and Daggerboard and return to rigging area.
3. Before stepping the mast, the mast must be assembled and the sail must be installed onto the mast. The larger part of the top of the mast should be on the same side of the mast as the boom (or boom vang block). Thread the halyard through the top of the mast.
4. Place the foot of the mast into the mast step, and raise the mast. The collar on the mast should go under the lock plate. Lock the mast in place and insert the locking pin. Cleat the halyard.
5. Attach the boom to the mast.
6. Attach the outhaul to the clew.
7. Make sure the main sheet is not tangled or twisted before attaching it to the traveler. Attach the small traveler block to the traveler bridle with the larger block on the mainsheet.
8. Place daggerboard into boat cockpit before launching so you won’t forget it. This will be installed, as shown in the picture, after launching.
9. Insert the rudder making sure the tiller goes under the upper part of the bridle and above the lower. Lock the rudder in the up position before launching.
10. Attach the boom vang to the blocks and attach the downhaul.
11. To put the Topper away, read these instructions backwards.
