This utility is a simple
Tcl/Tk script to show the battery status of portable
computers running
Linux and X-Windows. It displays a small widget on the corner
of the screen showing the battery lifetime and power status.
When the mouse travels over the widget, additional information
is displayed such as the amount of minutes left. The widget is
configurable through a preferences window:
It optionally displays a warning window when the remained power
is reaching a critical level.

Xbatcheck only runs on Linux with APM support. Refer to the
kernel configuration about turning on APM support. Furthermore,
Xbatcheck requires Tcl/Tk which can be downloaded from
- www.scriptics.com
or many other sites.

has been performed on my PC running
RedHat Linux in the few spare hours I had.
