Adapter for Datalink watch

I like my Timex Datalink watch, because it always reminds me of things I need to do and I am sure that I will not miss something important in my schedule.

The only difficulty I had earlier was the necessity of using notebook adapter because my notebook has LCD screen and watch can't read data from LCD. You need to connect and disconnect adapter to COM port every time you are to update data in the watch. You need to carry it in the bag.

Now I use 5mm wide-angle red LED (1.7 volt, 20mA, 800mcd) connected to the output of green signal of VGA adapter (longer pin goes in the lower hole). It works fine for me. I shortened the pins of LED, so that I don't need to take it out when I put my notebook into the bag. When I need to send data to the watch I need to turn LCD off with a keyboard, because otherwise the signal on the VGA output is nonstandard. The cost of LED is less than $1 in RadioShack, while adapter cost is $30. You can buy another watch for these money.

I don't know if it will work for you like it works for me, use it at your own risk if you like. If you have suggestion or comments on this, please write me a message.
