I always do my best to reply to mails, usually the same day. Unfortunately there are at least a couple of people who have written to me who seem to be unaware that they are writing mails from behind corporate firewalls which simply throw away my replies (no warning that the mail was not delivered). In such situations there is nothing that I can do. The usual solution, assuming that the firewall allows web traffic to pass, is to take advantage of the free web-based mail services such as HotMail or Yahoo for personal mail.
