This word, work, sums up my entire summer. Basically I kept busy working my pharmacy job in addition to my full-time position with Alberta Blue Cross again. This year it was a little more hectic since the "holiday times" of my co-workers resulted in extra hours for me. So I worked several day shifts in the pharmacy - I then had to "make up" for these hours at ABC by working earlier and staying later than normal.
Near the end of August was the Richard Nuxoll Memorial Rowing Regatta. I was a member of the Alberta Blue Cross "Bluewave" Team. For several weeks prior to the corporate rowing challenge, my 8 man team (well, 2 men and 6 women) would train out on the North Saskatchewan River. The toughest part at first was trying to maintain steady balance while we all cranked away at our oars. We soon got the hang of it and then our only problem was carrying the boat (heavy sucker!) down to the docks. On race day we won our first race and lost our second. Winning wasn't important, it was a blast to work as a team and to help raise money for the Cross Cancer Institute. Our reward at the end of the day was a great BBQ!!
This summer I didn't rollerblade that much. A friend/co-worker of mine and I would rollerblade during the lunch hour every Friday. It was a nice to just get some fresh air and get a little exercise at the same time. Other than that I went out blading on maybe 3-4 other occasions. But even so, I had to replace my brake pad since it was worn down pretty good (my third replacement in 4 years).
I wanted to play a lot more golf this summer but with work and all, it was really tough to get the time to play. I did, however, manage to get a couple rounds in at Golden West and a round at the Ranch Golf and Country Club. On a couple Sunday afternoons, a friend and I would go to the Golfdome to smack a few buckets... and sweat (anyone who has ever been to the Golfdome knows what I mean).
My R & R came in the last week of August when I quit a little early from ABC and got a few days off from my pharmacy job. It was nice to just kick back and not have to worry about work or anything else. Ah, I cherish these days.
During my "holidays", I decided to update my links and files on my home page space. With the move to my Geocities web space, I was able to get more pictures and files on the server. It sure is nice to have more room to allow me to manage and develop my web creations.
