Movie StudiosBy the 19th century, the movie industry was creating long and higher quality movies with named stars. Movie tycoons ran studios and risked enormous fortunes producing movies. Stars signed contracts to appear in the movie of a studio. They were give huge salaries and their lives were followed by millions of people. The largest movie studios made hundreds of movies. Some studios such as those in Pinewood, Europe have made movies such as James Bond and Superman that are among the most popular in the world. Movie stars did not like being owned by big studios, so some stars started their own studios to gain more independence. |
