Meta Tags

       Meta tags are tags that give information for the internet services, and/or web browses to use. When you use meta tags, place this between the <head> tags. These tags are used for search engines that look through meta tags.

      To use a meta tags type  meta name= .Then,  you type the meta command between the quotation marks. Type content  to set the values of the meta command. Put these between quotation marks also.

Here's an example:

<html>
<head>
       <meta name="generator" content="Mozilla/4.74 [en] (Win95; U) [Netscape]">
       <meta name="Author" content="Ronald Jones">
       <meta name="Description" content="Here at InterNet Stuff, if you need to know what a .com means, or why people say :-) . We give you info, sites to go to, and entertain you as you surf through the Internet.">
       <meta name="KeyWords" content="Internet Stuff, Internet, World Wide Web, Acronyms, Internet Help, Web, Internet Reference, Web Sites,">
</head>
<body> ... </body>
</html>

META Commands
       These are simple commands to understand. You would put it after meta name=  and between the quotation marks.

Generator
       This tells what program you used to make your web page. When you save your .html file, the program that you used will automatically appear in your web page in this form. If you use notepad it wouldn't appear on your web page.

Author
       The name who created your web page. Nothing much here.

Description
       This is where you describe your web page. Search engines uses meta tags will pick this message up. If you don't have this tag, meta tag search engines will just read the first sentences you have in your web page.

Keywords
        This is a shortcut to prioritize search engines that uses meta tags to see your web site. When you type "Internet" as your value to the Keywords command, search engines will pick it up when you typ "Internet" to the search engine, If you want to see your web site to be seen first, this command is very important. If you don't use this your page might be the last pages that you requested for that subject.

Tip: If you don't want to have search engines to see your web page, type "Robots" as your meta name and "noindex" for content. Also, you should try to erase the description, and to delete the <title> tags, with anything between those tags. By doing that, the Robots command and  Noindex attribute will work.
