Meta tags are tags that give information for the internet services, and/or web browses to use. When you use meta tags, place this between the <head> tags. These tags are used for search engines that look through meta tags.
To use a meta tags type meta name= .Then, you type the meta command between the quotation marks. Type content to set the values of the meta command. Put these between quotation marks also.
Here's an example:

Generator
This
tells what program you used to make your web page. When you save your .html
file, the program that you used will automatically appear in your web page
in this form. If you use notepad it wouldn't appear on your web page.
Author
The
name who created your web page. Nothing much here.
Description
This
is where you describe your web page. Search engines uses meta tags will
pick this message up. If you don't have this tag, meta tag search engines
will just read the first sentences you have in your web page.
Keywords
This is a shortcut to prioritize search engines that uses meta tags to
see your web site. When you type "Internet" as your value to the Keywords
command, search engines will pick it up when you typ "Internet" to the
search engine, If you want to see your web site to be seen first, this
command is very important. If you don't use this your page might be the
last pages that you requested for that subject.
