A Brief History of D'kaas TeufelMörder, Fiend Slayer - D'kass was born and raised in Mistledale to a ranger father and a fortune telling mother. His father gained fame and notoriety by protecting Misteldale and the surrounding areas from the seemingly unstoppable drow raiding parties, even going so far in his duties as to assist the Mistledale Riders from time to time with counter raids. D'kaas, as his own ranger skills grew, learned from his father's many years of teaching, began to accompany his father on scouting missions for the Riders, learning what he could of the ways of the drow warriors in hopes of one day fighting alongside his heroic father. When not outdoors scouring the forest for signs of evil afoot D'kaas would watch in fascination as his mother would cast the cards for Mistledale's inhabitants, divining future events both bad and good. While not what he would consider a profession D'kass has been known to cast the cards for his fellow adventurers as well as local tavern patrons on occasion. D'kaas' father was killed during a particularly brutal series of drow raids, one in particular that saw the inclusion of summoned fiendish drow allies. Realizing he needed more than his own two swords to avenge his father's death D'kaas joined the ranks of the Mistledale Riders learning military tactics as well as proper pole-arm fighting to keep the enemy at bay while advancing. Leading a patrol into a fight with a particularly nasty fiend at the forefront of an undead regiment D'kaas was able to slay the fiend but not without suffering many casualties of his charges. Unfortunately, D'kass' thirst wasn't slaked from the destruction of just one fiend so he spent all his time and energy tracking down the attaching drow and searching for any fiendish influences or outright fiend activities. While his successes couldn't be denied they came at a high cost. Many soldiers died following D'kaas into his bloody battles of righteousness Soon the blood-rage enveloping D'kaas began to ebb and he realized his eye for an eye strategy was clearly flawed. Thusly D'kass left his suit of black Mistledale Rider armor behind and began a journey across Faerun, alone, as he couldn't risk being responsible for another soldier dead for his "just" cause. Eventually his travels led to the Koumajutsu monks. These monks saw a ferocity in D'kaas' eyes, his burning hatred for the demonic and fiendish and took him in, teaching him their disciplines as well as some techniques. These teachings also included some studies in the arcane, something D'kaas took to as if he'd been born to. Realizing D'kass' innate abilities and fierce battle prowess the monks began to mold him into the perfect warrior to fight against the evil outsiders infiltrating the Realms. Thus, through both intense physical and mental disciplining as well as furthering his innate gift for harnessing magic's energies D'kaas was reborn a fiend slayer. D'kaas has walked the realms these past two years, assisting where he could, sending all sorts of fiendish beings back to their vile domains. He's recently been on the trail of Jezz the Lame, the drow responsible for organizing the raiding parties on the Dales. Some information D'kaas came by said Jezz might be in the vicinity of Cormyr, possibly rallying forces to take advantage of the less than stable rulership in Cormyr since Azoun IV's death. D'kaas also suspects Jezz was directly responsible for his father's death so many years ago and has swore to make right the one injustice he couldn't prevent that still haunts him. The last thing D'kaas needed was having an old friend ride out of the darkness on horseback with a dagger, teeming with foul shadow magic, stuck in his back. But that was exactly how D'kaas' evening began. With a greeting of "Hello, old friend." Blobbo slumped over his saddle as D'kaas, stunned at the sudden appearance of his long-lost companion, scrambled to his feet. Pulling an unconcious Blobbo off his horse to inspect the wound, D'kaas ripped open Blobbo's cloak to expose the wound, a blackened gash with greying flesh pierced by a blacker than black dagger that was burning to the touch when D'kaas attempted to remove it from Blobbo's back. In a moment of lucidity Blobbo managed to utter a few words, asking to be taken to [Lane's] home in the King's Woods outside Cormyr. Thinking his friend wouldn't survive the ride there D'kaas instead took him to [INSERT CITY] |
