Glossary of Terms
AMPS Adavanced Mobile Phone Service. Uses analogue technology. In use by Mobifon 800.
Analogue Sounds are in their original waveform and not converted to 1's and 0's as in digital. Analogue signals are combined with a carrier signal at a high frequency and transmitted. Currently used by Celcom's ART900, Telekom's ATUR450, and Mobikom's Mobifon 800.
CT2 Cordless Telephone 2. CT2 uses digital cordless phone technology. Subscribers have to be in range (about 100m) of a base station to make calls. These base stations are placed at various public locations and are identified by a Smartfon sign. Telekom's SmartFon system allows only outgoing calls.
D-AMPS Digital Adavanced Mobile Phone Service. Dual-mode AMPS/D-AMPS phones can switch to analogue service when there is no digital coverage. In use by Mobifon 800.

PCS Personal Communication System. Using GSM technology but on 1900 MHz frequency. Now known as GSM 1900. Used mainly in USA.
