Azala sat in her chair, listening to the sound of screams and lightning coming from downstairs. She knew his day would come. The day would come when mammals ruled the Earth. She had prepared for this. "The Tyrano, surely it will finish them off!... Who am I kidding. If they got through Nizbel, they'll get through me and the Tyrano. Hopefully, we'll all be crushed under Lavos. Ha! A fitting death!"
As the screaming and lightning stopped, she heard footsteps, ever so silent, coming up the stairs. Could not be any type of Reptite. They make noise like thunder. It had to be... the mammals. As she looked achingly at the three mammals that were charging at her, she jumped back and scurried off to the Tyrano, her entire race's last defense. "Tonight, we make our greatest stand! We shall go down in history as having fought bravely to the bitter end at the hands of mindless hairy beastlings!
Azala, standing on the Tyrano, turned her head to Lavos, the star shining so brightly in the sky. "Lavos... if we... don't make it... finish them off. For me." And at that moment, Lavos shined brighter. She dismissed this as it just entering the stratosphere. She turned back her head, and there were the mammals. Why, why were THEY to rule the world? They were stupid! They couldn't survive in most climates! Why had they hounded her everywhere she went?!?! What had she done to them?!
As the Tyrano gave it's last breath away, Azala looked at her enemy. She was a lot like Azala in some ways. They were both strong. They were leaders of their tribes. They were both fighters to the end. As she offered her a hand, Azala flatly said "No. This is how it must be. Remember! We fought bravely! We deserved an honorable death! We !.... we...."... "We what, Azala?" "We have no future..." And as the mammals flew away and the heat on Azala grew as Lavos approached, Azala thought back to how it all began, and clutched her amulet of dreamstone to her chest.
Chapter Two
It all began one fateful day when the castle fell out of the sky. Back then, the reptites didn't exist yet. Their predecessors, the herptites, finding a new place seemingly out of nowhere to exist, were soon crawling all over this new landscape. Before they knew what was happening, a mammal, one that nobody cared to record in any detail, came out of the building, and flew off. He was to be seen again, but not this day. But the Herptites had quite a place to explore now. Gaznar, Azala's ancestor, was the first one to find.. it.
Gaznar, unknowingly, crawled over the pendant. Instantly, he was filled with dreams, thoughts, sentience, and he knew. He wrote down most of his notes, and over 100 years later, Azala had found them. She now knew exactly how the reptites had evolved. She was ashamed of her heritage, that she, and all of her intelligence, was all bestowed upon her by.. by... by the damned mammals.
Gaznar had, once becoming intelligent, looked around at the general populace. Needless to say, he was not particularly impressed. He was by FAR the most intelligent one there, and he had nothing to do, and nobody intelligent enough to talk to. So what did he do? He became their ruler. He gave them each 5 seconds on the amulet. That made them intelligent enough to follow orders, but stupid enough to not overthrow him.
During Gaznar's reign, he found all the secrets of the keep. Because he wanted everyone to think that he had built it, he remade it to look like he did. He put Tyrano skulls for doors, plenty of pitfalls, cages, thrones made out of bone, and many other things. Only he knew what it really was, and he wrote it down. Decades later, his descendant found these notes, and was most fascinated by her discovery. It begins... "This is not my keep..."
Chapter Three
"... this keep belonged to a man named Magus, a time traveler from far in the future. I am writing this because I have given up all hope for our race surviving. In the future, beings such as him rule the earth, and they are descended from the mammals. I have tried to wipe out the mammals many a time now. However, HE was always there to stop me. Standing there, emotionless, honed to perfection... the ultimate warrior. With his purple cape blowng in the air, he has pushed back our assaults every time. I have come to call him... Warlok.
Our wars have gone on for centuries, but now I believe I have found the key to his defeat. In this keep, in a hidden room, I have found a Grimoire. I shall study of it's magics, an prepare myself, as nobody has ever known, to do battle with my only equal. We are much alike, he and I. We are both more than our races. In another time... another place, perhaps... perhaps.... NO! We can never be close, our worlds are too far apart. We are warriors! Fighting for the survival of our species!
Ahah! I have suited up appropriately. I am equipped with my Vest of the strange stone found in this keep, that it is embodied of. My weapon are gauntlets of stone, sharpened to perfection. I have my magics learned, and I am bringing the amulet with me for good luck..." Here there is a great gap, and then a huge splotch of blood, and frantically scribbled writings. "I WON! He dieed nottt........ another time,.. is innnnnnnnn....", and with that, there was nothing more of Gaznar's notes.
"I am Gaznar's protege. Mine name is Zavor. With their protection gone, we shall strike upon the humans. We shall be victorious!" Here there was abother splotch of blood, and more scribbled writings.. "They were too smart... used spell.. lowered intelligence... revolted.... hope tat my lineage is followed on... do me proud.... A...za... la...." And another splotch of blood, and then nothing.
Chapter Four
The last entry in the diary had been written by Azala. "Now, I am the only intelligent reptite left. I am the last of my lineage. I cannot rally any reptites, and the amulet used by my ancestors is long lost. The reptites shall go down, but we shall go down fighting. I have rediscovered the Grimore. Using its magics, I have created the pinnacle of reptite evolution : The Tyrano. The mammals will win, but we shall take many with us!
Whomsoever reads this, I want them to know just how we are to fall. The mammals.. we shall kidnap some. They shall send their strongest, best warriors to retrieve them, and they shall come after us. While they are still in this lair... this Tyrano Lair... Lavos shall fall from the sky and crush us all. Lavos is a comet, a creature meant to destroy our very existence. We have now kidnapped the mammals. I have also discovered the amulet. It is too late, however, to make our race intelligent. Our time has come.
I hear the mammals footsteps now. They are coming up the stairs. Our finest hour is to come. You who art reading this, know that we did all in our power, but the mammals, they are faster, stronger, and more coordinated than us. They come. I must go now. Lavos, I await you... " Azala finished her last thought, and was crushed under the flaming comet.
Ozzie closed the book, and his eyes, and a tear streamed down his face. "They're right. It is our destiny... to die." And with that, he ordered Slash and Flea to rally the troops, and make the final assault on the castle. Their final assault. "I shall do you proud, Azala.", Ozzie whispered, as he marched out the door one last time.
