Chapter One

"What a good life!", Crono thought to himself. After defeating Lavos, and meeting so many friends to help him with it on the way, he had finally settled down with Marle. After which, he had started his own dojo, and people flocked there, making him able to retire early.

"Crono, would you put your dishes in the sink, please?" Marle inquired, while standing in the doorway. "Just because you're the greatest swordsman on earth doesn't mean that you don't have to clean up after yourself!" She was right. Crono tossed his bowl up in the air, took a stick, and carefully swatted it so that it landed in the sink. "Wow, I'm sure Lavos is quivering from the grave, honey."

This made Crono think about his grand adventure and his friends. Lucca had continued to invent, and was constantly found in her lab, trying out all sorts of gizmos. Ayla had settled down as chief of the Ioka and Laruba with Kino, and a good thing too, because without that happening, his lovely wife wouldn't exist. Robo was doing his strange robot things in the future. Crono still didn't understand him. Frog was reinstated as the Queen's guard, and saved her life several times afterwards. Magus.... Magus Crono really didn't care for. What was to like? He had an ego, he was self centered, depressing, angry all the time, and he was sure that he hated working with Crono. Magus was probably still searching for Schala.

Then there came a knock at the door. "Crono, would you get that, darling?" Crono got up from his chair, and went to the door. As he opened the door, his mouth opened as well. A fitting way to leave this plane. Marle heard the commotion, and ran in, asking "Who was i...", and she never got to finish, because she too, was a pile of cinders, 5 feet away from the charcoal that was once Crono. The figure in the doorway looked down at the soot, and then turned around and left, his long, silvery hair glistening. And a long way away, a very dark person woke up.

Chapter Two

A long way away, in a galaxy far, far from here, a man dressed in black woke up. As he stirred, his watcher stirred from his chair and stared at him briefly. FuSoYa then inquired, "Why are you up? You aren't supposed to be up until a couple decades from now." Golbez replied, "I don't know. I did have a strange dream though... I dreamt that the earth was being destroyed by it's own hatred. Strange." FuSoYa nodded, "Strange indeed."

As Golbez went to gather his bearings, he heard a voice. "Hey! Where are you going?" Golbez turned. FuSoYa was still in his medatative state. "Yeah you! Where are you going?" Golbez looked around. Nobody. "You should go back to earth!" Golbez inquired aloud, "Did you wake me?" "Yeah. You're kinda needed." Golbez asked, "Who ARE you?" "Oh yeah. Sorry to not say. I'm Kefka. Pleased ta meetcha!"

"Where are you from, and why can't I see you?", Golbez asked. "Well, it's like this - After you left Earth, all those call magics - they got kinda rowdy, and were all used against each other, and blasted the human race back into the stone age. But after awhile, we got back on our feet. There was an empire. It collected magical call beasts, and infused them into people. I was one of those subjects. And I've hated Gestahl every day for making me a half-human. A lot."

"Anyways, I got really mad one day, and then started realizing that I, like you, was hearing voices. But this one took over my body. It was Zeromus. He got reeeaaallly powerful, and then ruined the world, which I was, unfortunately, accounted for, and was finally defeated by a group of adventurers. But he took his toll. But he was still around, and I am too. He's back in action now, thanks to the hatred of one particularly nasty fellow, goes by Magus. He's been possessed. And with the prime protectorates of that world already destroyed, there is precious little anyone can do. So, I called upon you. Will you help?"

Golbez thought a while, and replied, "No. They hate me there, and I have no place on earth anymore." Kefka yelled at him, "But you are just a legend! Nobody believes that you even exist!" Golbez said, "It matters not. I have no place on Earth." Golbez turned his back on Kefka, and started going off to bed. "Oh no, you don't!.......... "

Chapter 3

In the middle of Guardia forest, Golbez's dark form appeared. He thought, "Damn. I hate possessing people, but this 'Golbez' dude is such a wuss! I, Kefka, shall slay Zeromus!", and with that, he started marching triumphantly through the woods. Unfortunately, he had not a clue as to where he was going, so it took him quite a bit to actually exit the forest.

Kefka then asked around. Everybody was very sad that the trio of greatness had been destroyed 2 thirds of the way through. Kefka inquired as to where the third hero was, and was told that she was a little eccentric, but not all that far away. Strangely, nobody seemed to care that he was marching down main street in fully black armor. "Guess they're a BIT preoccupied.", thought Kefka. And with that in mind, he set off to Lucca's house.

As he entered, he found a flaming projectile flying straight at him. He ducked instinctively, and then heard a person, presumably Lucca, yell, "Would ya catch that?" Golbez did, and brought it over to the voice. "Thanks.", said the purple haired woman. "That was another experiment gone rogue. What do you want?" Golbez told her of his plight, and she replied by saying, "Well, Magus is VERY powerful. Let's getcha some gear!" And with that, she started rummaging through some stuff. She picked a strange-looking one up. "Wonder what this.. aahhh!" Lucca stopped in mid-sentence, because a blast of magic had come in through the window, and laid waste to her.

Kefka examined her body. Dead. Might as well look through some of this stuff, he thought. He started looking for blueprints. After looking for a while, he still couldn't figure it out. So he tried accessing Lucca's computer. It came up with a password. After some trying, he came up with it. Time Egg. After seeing some schematics, he finally got to plain english explanations. He geared up with a Gold Stud, her PrismArmor, and a device to prevent him from being possessed. He then found the coordinates of Magus's Keep. He hopped into the Epoch, and took off. To meet his doom.

Chapter 4

"Get up, you pathetic worm!", Magus yelled at the dark form on the ground in front of him. Golbez thought to himself, "In retrospect, I really shouldn't have charged into Magus's keep blindly. After all, Frog's corpse outside, with the Masamune stuck in it was a clear sign of danger." Magus had been waiting for him there, and Golbez fell through about 15 traps, and then straight into a fireball. Magus had caught him off guard, and was keeping him this way. "If only there was an opening... but there isn't, so I must make one. Or at least stall.", Golbez thought.

"Well, you snotty little bag of cat vomit? Are you man enough to face me?", Magus taunted at him. Golbez said, "Answer me this. How did you hop from time to time to time? First 1000 AD, then 600. How?" Magus replied, "It's simple, really. This is the Epoch 2." He pointed to an exact replica of the Epoch. "One doesn't hang around a planet for an eon without learning a few tricks." While he was bragging, Golbez had gotten up, and unsheathed the Masamune he took from Frog's body. "Learned ALL the tricks, have you?!?", he shrieked, as he lunged at Magus.

"Yes.", Magus said, as he easily sidestepped the blow. "Like how to see reflections through stained glass, for instance." Magus then blasted Golbez's body. "Lets take this to where it began, shall we? Lets see... I think I'll do some editing. This time, evil will be victorious!" "STOP!", yelled a voice from the doorway of the room. "I will not allow you to hurt this person any more!" And with that, the figure leapt in between Golbez and Magus. He then unsheathed the Rainbow, a legendary sword. But it was Crono's....

"And who is this?" Magus asked, as he levitated the form into the light. "Crono.. but I killed you!" "I'm Millen. Crono's son. And I shall avenge him!!!", Millen yelled, as he swung at Magus. He nicked Magus's face. "Nasty BRAT!", Magus yelled, as he blasted the child into a wall. By this time Golbez had gotten up. "Oh Zeromussss.... ", Golbez chimed, as he unleashed Meteo upon the warlock. Magus was kneeling, preparing to strike back when.. "Let's do it together!" Meteo Sword was used on him. "Aaahhh! You stupid kid!" Magus got up. "Take this!" and with that, he reduced them both to his little puppets. He removed all their aromor, weapons, and talsimans with his magic, and knocked them both unconscious.

"You idiot! Did you HONESTLY THINK YOU COULD WIN? I know ALL the tricks! Ha ha ha ha ha ha.. huh?" "But do you know board games?" "Who is that? Show yourself!", Magus shrieked. "Here's your next challenger. My mind, MY battlefield, MY RULES.", and with that, Zeromus found himself in Magus's mind. "Crono was a good man. You had better not have finished off his lineage! I will make you pay!", Magus yelled. Zeromus laughed. "Yeah. Right." "You said it yourself.", and with that, the landscape turned into a giant chessboard. The pieces grew out of the ground. "Your turn, Zeromus.", and with Zeromus having lost that chess battle, he was forever imprisoned in Magus's mind, subject to his cruel punishments. Kefka, having avenged himself, had a peaceful afterlife. Golbez returned to the moon, and sayed there for a good, long time. Millen grew up and changed his name to Millenium, and married a girl named Eon. Of course, that was after their big adventure. But that is a story for another time.
