- Freedom supressed is freedom
denied. Marcos has become synonymous to dictatorship
because of his authoritarian ways. From torture to
incarceration to all his political foe, he manipulated
democracy to eliminate his opponents to further his quest
for total power and wealth. After his regime, filipinos
are left with his legacy of terror and supression etched
in the minds of his victims. His political machinery
althou disbanded, remained within the government only
with a different collar. The present Estrada
administration after two years has reminded us again of
the Marcos era.
-
- An incident wherein a newspaper
publisher was indicted and publishing was stopped due to
articles that merely eposes the truth about the the
presidents gambling habits and his circle of friends in
the gambling world.
- Another incident was when drug test
was imposed on all government officials and armed forces
personell. One mayor of San Juan, Metro Manila who
happened to be one of the president's son was requested
by a certain police general to take the drug test. This
Mayor bluntly refused to take the test and the president
himself relieved the police general from his post. One
more issue worth mentioning is the promotion of one of
the presidents son to a rank of Capt. after privately
training him on an exclusive flying lesson utilizing the
military helicopters and pilots - A privilege never
offered to any ordinary citizen. Human rights violation
is also rampant on the present administration. Issues
have risen up against the PACTF a government task force
against crime, such as unexplained death, torture,
shootout and improper policing that leads to death. These
are all reminders of the US-Marcos dictatorship.
- Most if not all Marcos machinery is
now back in the government. Figures such as Rodolfo
Aguinaldo-now a congressman, Kit Tatad now a senator,
Blas Ople a house speaker etc... These are all Marcos
figures who's played a considerable part in the US-Marcos
dictatorial rule. Aguinaldo has personally instigated the
torture and incarceration of people against Marcos during
his time. From supression of our speech freedom, to
illegal arrests, incarceration and torture, these are the
US-Marcos trail to dictatorship.
