All About Shroom Jaw

Shroom Jaw formed in January of 1995. After recording a 3 song demo, they sent the tape to CKVR, The New VR, and won a spot on the TV show "Up and Coming". The show features new bands, and Shroom jaw received 10 hours of recording time at the Power Plant in Barrie and the opportunity to film two videos.

Shroom Jaw begin recording thier first independant CD in late October, at Renaissance Studios in Wingham, Ontario. By January, the recording was finished and mixing & mastering began, and finished in February.

"Up and Coming" featured Shroom Jaw in April 1996. The show debuted in the Toronto/Barrie area, and was then shown across Canada on CKVR's affiliates in Halifax, Victoria, Vancouver and Thunder Bay.

Shroom Jaw has filmed two videos. "(Can't you) Here me calling" was filmed in Orillia, October 1995. Canada's video channel MuchMusic began showing the video in June 1996. "Groovy Little Hippy Chick" was filmed at CKVR's studio in Barrie in late October as well.

The CD was released May 1st 1996. It's currently available at the 'Sam the Record Man' and 'Sunrise' locations in London, Ontario. It can also be obtained from any band member. (interested net users can email ottomaddox@geocities.com for information on getting the CD or the Shroom Jaw T-shirt!)

Shroom Jaw has been playing several locale venues, including GT's, The Embassy and The Brunswick in London, Brunos in Goderich, The Stray Cat Bar in Harriston, The Reef in St. Thomas, The Vienna Hotel in Vienna, Harvey's in Walkerton and The Harbour in Owen Sound. Watch for them playing a gig near you.

Shroom Jaw also been featured on 103.1 The Hawk during their "Radioactive" program in June 1996. They were also covered in the 'OffBeat' column of the London Free Press. Currently, you can also catch Shroom Jaw on CHRW, Radio Western, at 94.7 on the FM dial.
