Colors game RULES | |
Here is a
challenge to your strategic skills. The game is very easy to play --
you move colored chips trying to line them up to 5 and more of the
same kind. Such chains disappears leaving you some more life space.
After you do the move, computer puts 3 more chips to the random
locations on the board. You can move chips only on fields that have
clear path between, so no skips, even diagonal moves.
Every move gives you a little score. Every row of 5 or more gives you more points, the longer was the chan the bigger is the prize, and it's amounts grows very fast. Moreover, you got extra moves for chains longer than 5, and again, the amount of extra moves rises fast with length of the chain Extra moves mean that you can move some chips without getting 3 more every time. If you don't need them, or just have nothing to do -- press skip, and you will have a GREAT bonus for every move you gave up. HINT! If you are loosing... Don't' just press restart, skip the rest of your moves until there will be no free place on the board -- this way you'll get all you can from the situation. |

ColorsGame as an application...
ColorsGame
may also work as a standalone Java application,
those of you who wants to use it -- here is ColorsGameApp.zip (7.7k) that contains all classes.
Unpack them and run ColorsGame class;
for example, on most systems the command will look like
"Java ColorsGame". Internet Explorer users Those of you who have MS Java VM, for example, having installed MS IE 3.0+ (I hope), could also download this game as the standalone ColorsGame.exe file - but it still need Java VM. So, if you have it -- go download colors.zip (9.46k) |
Have troubles? | |
I'm still working on this project so there may be problems. Moreover,
I can't test it on all platforms, so mail me to the sergeych@earthling.net.
I also like to hear your impressions and wishes, so I'm waiting for your mail. I plan to do another version after release of Internet explorer 4.0 to use new features of Java implemented in it and Netscape Communicator 4, so if you want something to add -- it could be done. for example, how about having table of records? I can't implement web-wide one because I have no friendly server to put it on. I can also make some sort of score table on this page that will be updating manually about once a week from your mail, how about it? |
History... | |
At first I wrote this stuff just to practice a bit, to maintain
qualification level while doing boring things at work. Initially it
took 2 nights and about a liter of tea. Then, after all, I found that
people actually plays in it -- cuz one day I put by mistake version
compiled by wrong compiler and soon got a lot of messages cuz of it.
Then I made next version, with corrections and improvements. Finally,
I liked it myself ;)
You can find more cool stuff and some information about me on my home page, that is under eternal reconstruction already a year. |
Put the game to YOUR site!
Well if you like this stuff you can put it to your page -- it's
allowed, it's easy! To do it, just add following piece of html code
to the place you want:
<applet code="ColorsGame.class" codebase="http://geocities.datacellar.net/SiliconValley/Park/5199" width="10" height="10"> <param name="cabbase" value="ColorsGame.cab"> </applet>Customize it as you'd like. Take note that this applet appears in the floating frame window rather than on the carrying page, so it's page's area can be reasonable small. You can experiment with smaller sizes, it's pretty good idea to make it so tiny so it will be invisible, but some early versions of netscape won't understand it as I found. What I would appreciate in this case is that you will place link to my page and/or mention about me in your page, that's all. Do you think I want too much? |
So where this game is? | |
Ooops... It's the small Java applet, so it will take some time
to download. It's all takes about 14k so it can't be long. When
ready, it will starts in the separate window that will persist until
you close it or the browser.
To reopen closed game window just refresh this page (or return to it). GOOD LUCK! |
