Welcome
Hello, and welcome to my homepage. If you made it here you probably know me already but if you don't, here are some things that will help you get to know me :)
During the Gulf war in 1991 Scud missiles fell in Israel. In this picture we see Lior, during his Navy service, looking for a super hero (Batman perhaps) that will save Israel from evil Saddam Husein. (of course in MAD, where else???)
Here's the basics:

My name is Lior Ben-Ami, I'm the regional System Administrator of the Israeli Embassies in central and western Africa (yes, I work with PC Networks... someone has to do it :). I was born in Tel Aviv on November 18, 1970. Today, I live in Abidjan, The Ivory Coast, with Nina, my beloved wife, and with our 6 month old surviving plant.
Before I moved to work in Africa, I was the System Manager of MOR - Institute For Medical Data Ltd. a.k.a. Machon Mor, where I ran Alpha/OpenVMS and WindowsNT servers, responsible for 15 branches nationwide. Prior to Machon Mor, I worked for the Israel Lands Administration a.k.a. Minhal Mekarke'ei Israel", (3 years) where I was responsible for the computerization in the Haifa and Northern Region branch (VAX/VMS, PC).

Well, you must know I'm a Mac addict. I'm an addict since I got my hand on a Mac Plus, back in 87. It's still working! Today I'm Using a G3 (that's until I buy a G4 and an iBook). I use ACCESS and PC-Anywhere from VPC (for work) and it's great. Surfing the Net is something I do way too much. I am a big fan of expensive restaurants (unfortunately for my bank account). I am also a cinema buff. I like to read science fiction books, (serious ones and crazy ones also, i.e., the Hitchhiker's Guide series), listen to jazz music (instrumental and vocalist) and to rock. Artists I like include Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Pink Floyd, U2 and John McLaughlin. I like to sail, which I did all the time during my Navy service, and snorkel. You should also know that I am a big fan of the Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer team.

Well... I have all Monty Python's and Mel Brooks's movies, and I know them all by heart! I also like Italian films -- I have most of Fellini's works on tape. Also, Bergman movies, Kishlovsky films, and Woody Allen epics grace the shelves of my video library. Science fiction movies (such as 2001 A Space Odyssey, Solaris -- a Russian film, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Blade Runner) are also in my collection and of course, some of the new cinema king, Quentin Tarantino's work. If we're already speaking about films, I love the work of Lars von Trier -- The Kingdom.
