-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Pong-Type Systems -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Coleco Telstar Marksman (missing rifle butt) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Hand-Helds -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- I got into hand-helds before I got into regular systems, since they were cheaper for my parents to buy. I think I have instructions for all of them, and boxes for a few. My favorites ever were Donkey Kong (small and tan, folding) and Burgertime. Too bad Donkey Kong has been destroyed for over a decade and Burgertime has pretty much been retired. :( -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Space Invaders by Entex 1981 (kinda broken) Two Pac-Mans (one complete in box) 1981 by Coleco Burgertime by Mattel Electronics 1982 (almost completely broken) Dungeons & Dragons by Mattel Electronics 1981 Masters of the Universe by Mattel Electronics 1982 (nearly the same as D&D) Cat Dodger by Tomy (year unknown) (non-electronic) Space Laser Fight by Bambino (year unknown) complete (if I can find the box) Dracula by Epoch 1982 complete in box Airwolf by Acclaim (year from late 80's) (did it come in plastic or a box?) X-Men Project X (1988 on back and 1992 on front) by Tiger (not really mine:) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Video Game Magazines -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- I din't get into video game magazines until December 1987, when I first got an issue of Nintendo Fun Club News in the mail. About the same time I got Sega Challenge as well, and was happy with both (Nintendo Fun Club News was reborn into a larger, less-fun pay magazine called Nintendo Power) all through 1988. Then came the period from 1989 until 1992. I bought four different gaming mags each month with no exceptions! Electronic Gaming Monthly was my favorite, as my name was in there with the #1 score for Monster Lair (Turbo Grafx 16 CD). My name also was in Electronic Games (the second generation) as my newsletter (Zap!) was given a review. In the early 90's, I started collecting classic mags. In the mid-to late 90's, I rarely bought any new video game mags, but as of 1998, I once again buy Electronic Gaming Monthly every month. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Electronic Games (First Generation) March 1983, April 1983, May 1983, June 1983, July 1983, August 1983, November 1983, December 1983, January 1984, October 1984, December 1984, February 1985, April 1985 (last issue) 1983 Software Encyclopedia, 1984 Software Encyclopedia -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Nintendo Fun Club News Fall 1987 (third issue), Winter 1987, Feb/March 1988, April/May 1988, June/July 1988 (last issue ) Note: It is rumored that the first two (or at least the first) issues are simply a newsletter of just a few pages. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Nintendo Power July/August 1988 (premiere issue) to January/February 1990, July/August 1990, Volume 13 (years and months have vanished), Volume 15 to 24 Note: Since Nintendo Power is a continuation of Nintendo Fun Club News, shouldn't the first issue be dated August/September 1988 instead of July/August 1988? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Sega Challenge Winter 1988 (premiere issue), Spring 1988, Summer 1988, Fall 1988, January 1989, April 1989, December 1989 Note: On the first issue cover, premiere is misspelled "Premier." Also, each issue is numbered. I have #1 to #7, and I'm 99% positive no issue was made after #7. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Sega Visions June/July 1990 (premiere issue), October/November 1990, Winter 1990/1991, April/May 1991, Summer 1991, Fall 1991, Winter 1991/1992, May/June 1992, August/September 1992, November/December 1992, February/March 1993, April/May 1993, June/July 1993, August/September 1993, October/November 1993, December/January 1994, February/March 1994, April/May 1994, September 1995 Note: I have no idea if my collection is complete up until the April/May 1994 issue. Sega seemed to have missed a lot of months. I also liked Sega Challenge way better than this. Like Nintendo Power, more pages isn't everything. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Electronic Game Player September/October 1988 (Volume 1, #4) Note: When this mag went monthly it became known as Electronic Gaming Monthly. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Electronic Gaming Monthly #1 (May, 1989) (premiere issue) -#32, #34-#43, #45, #49-#53, #57, #71, #74-#75, #77-#79, #81-#83, #85, #87, #90-#93, #95, #102, #104, #107-#121 EGM Video Game Buyer's Guide 1990 (also issue #5), 1991 (also issue #15), 1992, 1994, 1997, 1999 Top Score (from the editors of EGM) All it says is "Display until August 31, 1989" Note: This was my favorite gaming mag back in the day, and, because it's the only one I still buy, I guess it's still my favorite, although that's not saying very much. While today it's still a decent mag, it went totally downhill since Steve Harris and Ed Semrad left. They would never have allowed the garbage that's spewed in every issue, along with their young and oh-so-trendy 90's polygon-loving, sprite-hating, anti-old school gaming, "Playstation is God" staff, led by some Englishman named John Davison. Sadly, today it's only a mere shadow of its former self. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Electronic Gaming Monthly 2 #50 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Mega Play Premiere Issue (month and year not listed), February 1991, March/April 1991 Note: This is "The Ultimate All-Sega Magazine" from the editors of EGM. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Super Gaming Summer 1991 (premiere issue), Fall 1991 (error: Says Fall 1990, but it's crossed out with a sticker over it that says Fall 1991) Note: This is "The Ultimate International Video Game Resource" from the editors of EGM. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Video Games & Computer Entertainment April 1989 (third issue) to November 1992, January 1993 Note: If you are an older, mature gamer, then this is (err, was) the gaming mag for you. An outstanding and highly intelligent mag (you won't find many exclamation points in here), I didn't totally appreciate it back in the day, because back then, I wasn't an older gamer, nor was I all that mature or intelligent. :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Game Player's April/May 1989 (premiere issue) all the way up until October, 1991. I believe this is the complete collection, as I could not find any issue dated after that one. Game Player's Nintendo Strategy Guide Volume 1, #2, and Volume 1, #3 Note: This may be a continuation from the Buyer's Guide listed above. Also, Volume 1, #2 says "Display until May 16, 1989" while Volume 1, #3 says "Display until March 14, 1989." This is very strange indeed. Grr!), November 1991-April 1992, June 1992-August 1992 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Electronic Games (Second Generation) October 1992 (premiere issue), February 1993, March 1993 Note: Would you believe that I don't even have the issue (April 1993 I think) that my old newsletter (Zap!) was reviewed in? :( -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ultra Game Players April 1997 (issue #96) Note: Since issue #96 came out in April of 1997, this mag must have been around since 1989 or 1990! Was it subscription only? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Colecovision Experience Fall 1983 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Atarian May/June 1989 (true premiere issue), August 1989 (premiere issue again), October 1989 Note: The first two issues both say "Premier Issue" (and both are misspelled too!). This is due to the fact that the second issue was the "first sold on newsstands throughout the U.S. and Canada." Only three different issues were made. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Turbo Force June 1992 (Volume 1), September 1992 (Volume 2), January 1993 (Volume 3) (two copies) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Game Informer Magazine Fall 1991 (premiere issue), November/December 1991, Spring 1992, Summer 1992, September/October 1992, January/February 1993, May/June 1993 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Beyond Gaming Issue #3 (June 1990), issue #4 Note: This is The Ultimate Game Club's official video game magazine -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Computer Magazines -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Antic December 1985 (Volume 4, #8), January 1986 (Volume 4, #9), August 1987 (Volume 6, #4), December 1987 (Volume 6, #8), February/March 1990 (Volume 8, #8), June/July 1990 (Volume 9, #2) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Atari Explorer May/June 1989, September/October 1989, January/February 1990, Spring 1990, March/April 1991, Summer 1991, September 1991, February 1992, March/April 1992 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- STart February 1990 (Volume 4, #7), December 1990 (Volume 5, #4), January 1991 (Volume 5, #5) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Amiga World As soon as I find them, I'll list them. :) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Commodore Computing International January 1989 Note: This is an English magazine -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- The Games Machine May 1989 Note: This is an English magazine -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- PC Games Spring 1989 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- PC Gamer September 1994 (Volume 1, #4), October 1994 (Volume 1, #5) -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- InterAction Fall 1996, Spring 1997 Note: This is a magazine from Sierra. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- CD-ROM Today November 1995, December 1995, January 1996 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Misc. Turbo Edge Spring 1991, Fall 1991, Spring 1992 Note: This is really a newsletter, but it's officially from NEC Technologies, Inc. They are only about 16 pages each, but it has all the features of any normal magazine. Acclaim Masters of the Game from 1992 Note: This is another catalog in magazine format, but it has a price of $3.50 on it!
