Yeah, so I'll have been "online" for a decade this August. Can you believe it! I'm too young to be a Usenet junkie from the Eighties, but at least I can say I was there before the web. I remember a friend telling me one day, "Hey you have to check this out. It's this thing called World Wide Web."
I want to have a big celebration for this occasion. Any ideas?
Today I decided to keep a written collection of the many things I learn from day to day, throughout my life.
My first lesson involves mountain bikes... I was on vacation last week at Seven Springs (www.7springs.com) and went mountain biking. While cruising down the mountainside on the road, I decided to make a sharp turn. Apparently, the turn was too sharp for the bike to handle, and it slid from under me. What happened next, I like to refer to as "pavement surfing." Yeah, so I lost a bunch of skin on my arm and knee.
This is the second time I injured myself in this way. I was trying to impress the neighborhood kids by riding backwards on my bike. I deserved to get hurt that time, but not now. Although, I'm still upset with myself that I let it happen. It was only the second day of vacation, and I nearly ruined it. Accidents may be accident, but they're always preventable.
The lesson for today is: Mountain bikes are not street bikes -- they
were
made for off-road use, and don't get good grip on the pavement!
